What is worth choosing
Choosing HYUN for a fine dining experience in New York is an investment in a truly unparalleled culinary journey, particularly for those who cherish high-quality beef. The main draw is the centerpiece of the menu: the "HYUN-makase," a unique all-you-can-eat offering of the highest grade Japanese A5 wagyu. This isn't just a meal; it's a meticulously curated tasting tour of various cuts of wagyu, each grilled to perfection at your table by knowledgeable staff. This interactive and personalized service ensures that every piece of meat is cooked exactly right and provides an opportunity to learn about the different cuts and how they are best enjoyed. The quality of the wagyu is consistently praised by patrons for its "melt in your mouth" texture and rich, beautiful marbling, making the experience a memorable one. The sophisticated and upscale atmosphere, with its trendy and sleek design, makes HYUN an ideal spot for celebrating a special event, whether it's an anniversary, a birthday, or a victory celebration. While the price point is on the higher end, the value is often considered excellent given the premium nature of the beef, with many customers feeling it's a reasonable cost for the amount and quality of wagyu provided. The excellent service, from the moment you are seated to the tableside guidance, adds to the overall sense of luxury and makes the experience feel seamless. Furthermore, the availability of a great cocktail and wine selection allows for perfect pairings to complement the rich flavors of the meat. While some reviews mention potential stomach issues from the richness of the wagyu, this is a known characteristic of the beef itself and not a reflection on the freshness. For serious food lovers, and particularly fans of Japanese and Korean cuisine, HYUN offers a distinct and luxurious fine dining experience that is hard to find elsewhere in the city.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Marble is prized for its beauty, density, and elegance but at HYUN in Koreatown, the only marble worth admiring is their melt in your mouth A5 wagyu. From the moment you’re seated, friendly and knowledgeable staff guide you through each of the 13 cuts, grill it to perfection, and help pair it with the right condiment. Fresh accompaniments such as apple vinaigrette salad, kimchi, scallions, and crisp lettuce also go along real well. Their A5 wagyu kalbi is marinated with apples, pears, and soy sauce comes last for the most savory moment. Now here comes the toughest part. Deciding on your encore. Go for another round and let’s feast! Make sure to book ahead and show up on time. Every minute counts when you’re savoring beef this premium.
July 05 · Elena HoWe did the unlimited option and at first it seemed worth it — the food looked fresh and was beautifully presented, and the service and atmosphere were excellent. But the night ended terribly. As soon as we got home, both of us were hit with stomach aches that completely ruined the evening. For a place charging $100+ per person, this is unacceptable.Be warned: the presentation may impress, but the aftermath is not worth the risk. Proceed with caution.I would recommend to go to niku x!!!I was there more than once, was absolutely amazing!🤩
August 29 · eli goldHad HYUN on my list for a while now -Service: Incredible, our server was very attentive, knowledgeable and friendly. He recommended the pairings between salts/sauce & the cuts of meat, and they cook for you. The experience is definitely more premium than other establishments, but evidently it’s another way for them to manage the time (~90 minute limit)Food: It’s Japanese wagyu, and the starting platter consists of multiple parts of the animal with varying degrees of marbling. The banchan & side dishes are delicious - there is kimchi, a refreshing lettuce and another scallion salad. Side dishes are ‘unlimited,’ but you need to finish eating it first, which is fair. The course itself promotes as a ‘tasting,’ followed by an ‘ayce’ aka ‘encore’ portion, though that is not really true to the name. You can only order 1-2 platters of meat per item, and I can tell the service slows down a lot during this time to draw out the remaining time to the limit. We were able to order 3 additional platters of Wagyu before last call, though I’m sure that varies party to party - the plates come out with 2-3ish pieces too depending on party size of course.Atmosphere: Interior is sleek, modern with a taste of warm, cozy, wooden accents. It’s simple and nice; noise levels tend to be on the lower and more manageable side for conversations too.Overall: Would I come again? Maybe, it is an experience. But definitely more for special occasions, as it is more a premium cost. I do wish the establishment is a bit more candid about what to expect.
August 25 · Vanessa KwokIncredible service, incredible ambiance and even more incredible A5 Wagyu. This experience is pricey but one must pay premium to enjoy the very best. Everything from the minute you walk in, you feel as if this restaurant exist just to serve you.I definitely recommend this to everyone to enjoy at least once. It’s life changing first bite. I also highly suggest you make a reservation as advance as you can. This restaurant is booked full daily.
May 29 · Jesse YuanNice restaurants with great service! However, after this first round, they bring 1 piece at a time and share with your group. So you eat, wait for like 5 minutes and then theg bring more.Their meat is so tasty, but I still wish they could bring a few pieces at a time at least.Like their menu said, you have 1.5 hr to eat. After finishing the meal I straight went to the little Italy pizza and get 2 slices 😋. They are few stores away and so tasty. Would recommend them as well!!
