★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Respectfully the food doesnt taste like puerto rican authentic food like it did when I first discovered this particular location. I noticed the last 2 times I ordered to go that the arroz con gandules was bland. The tostones weren't fresh, and the potato salad was good one time out of the three times I ordered it. The sauces were watery and it seems the staff don't last long. The other location, before it closed in Essex street market, was excellent. The pernir, arroz, tostones, pollo, everything was fresh and really good. The chef(s) seemed to know how to cook authentic puerto rican food. (Like grandma's cookin). Unfortunately this location & food, doesn't seem authentic or fresh at times. I hope the owner(s) consider hiring better cooks to bring back the true latin flavors of puerto rican food.
July 16 · A SThe alcapurria was too toasted for my liking however it tasted good. I had white rice, beans and masitas de pollo. I loved the masitas they were well seasoned and the texture was great. Recommend it if you are looking for Puerto Rican food.
October 23 · Géne BelloToday was my first time ordering and I have to say the Mofongo didn’t taste all that great. It was so hard I couldn’t even cut through it. I would have thought it would have came with gravy.
September 10 · Alamito AberoWepa! We decided to try Que Chevere for an authentic Puerto Rican meal, especially since we had someone with us who missed the flavors of home. Located in a lively food hall, Que Chevere offers a straightforward menu where you can choose from prearranged bowls or build your own.We opted to build our own bowls, and we were not disappointed. The rice was bursting with flavor, a perfect base for our meal. The chicken was perfectly seasoned, soft, and tender, pairing wonderfully with both sauces provided. The rice and beans, along with the plantains, made the dish truly well-rounded.This spot is definitely one we'll return to for more delicious meals. A local even mentioned that Que Chevere is their go-to place for lunch, and after tasting the food, we can see why.Highly recommend it!
June 20 · Allen HayesCan’t believe there’s no reviews on this place and I’m glad to be the first with an authentic review as I’m Puertorican myself. I never really go this far downtown but had a job interview and was STARVING. I saw the flags through the glass as I walked by and had to come in and support my people and I’m glad I did. 1000/10 will come again and definitely recommend. Food was so delicious it took me to the island. Got the bowl with pernil arroz con gandules and maduros with kola champagne as my drink. Please support as the food is worth it and fast service. Cilantro sauce AMAZING.
