Given the "daily verbal menu" at Chez Macoule, you can't go wrong with whatever is being offered on the day you visit. However, a customer review offers a perfect example of a winning combination: the Grio with fried plantain, side salad, and pikliz. This is a classic Haitian dish, and according to the review, it's a delicious and affordable choice that comes with the essential accompaniments. Grio, or fried pork, is a staple of Haitian cuisine, and its preparation at Chez Macoule is clearly a highlight.
Another recommended dish is the legume with white rice. Legume is a vegetable stew often made with a variety of vegetables and meat, and a customer's mother gave it a "thumbs up," which is a high form of praise in home-style cooking. The fact that the food is described as the "closest thing you can get to back home" speaks volumes about its authenticity and quality. You can expect a satisfying, flavorful, and deeply comforting meal no matter what you choose. The focus on freshness and a rotating menu means you’ll always be in for a treat, and the consistently low prices make it an excellent choice for a regular dining spot. This "hidden haitian gem" is well worth seeking out for its genuine flavors and welcoming vibe.

Chez Macoule Reviews
Oh wow! It taste so homemade I thought my mom was in the Kitchen. I ordered the Grio with fried plantain, side salad, pikliz, sauce all for $12 bucks. Mom got the legume with white rice. She gave it a thumbs up. No posted menu, just a daily verbal menu of the daily catch. Clean, fast and, good service. Will definitely be coming back to this hidden haitian gem.
March 31 · Butter MI have eaten here a couple times and the food is probably the closest thing you can get to back home. The people there are polite and serve very fast. And most important of all, they have the cheapest price of all Haitian restaurants I have been in Brooklyn.
July 28 · Roodly Philogene (Therealestboy85)I give this place 1 star . Customer service is everything and they failed that. I called at 12:30 pm to ask what's on the menu. Lady on the phone responded "si se duriz ou bezwen poko genyen". Ok so I asked what time lunch will be ready and she answered "oh cherie mpaka diw se sou dife a mwen ye". How are you running a buisness and not having a time set for lunch and dinner??. When are we going yo do better? No discipline. Very unprofessional!! We got to do better
