Creole Plate Introduce
Creole Plate, situated on the busy 233-06 Merrick Blvd in the Rosedale section of Queens, New York, is a destination for authentic Haitian cuisine. This restaurant is classified as both a general restaurant and a specialized Haitian restaurant, serving as a cultural culinary hub for local New Yorkers and visitors looking to explore the rich, vibrant flavors of the Caribbean. The establishment offers a full-service experience with options for dine-in, takeout, and delivery, making it a convenient choice for any meal.
The atmosphere at Creole Plate is described as casual and trendy, successfully attracting a crowd of local residents. It is popular for lunch, dinner, and even solo dining, positioning it as a welcoming neighborhood spot. The menu is a testament to the depth of Haitian gastronomy, focusing on "comfort food" and providing options for a "quick bite" through its "small plates" and extensive appetizer selection. The commitment to providing diverse options is evident in its ability to cater to various times of the day, offering a dedicated Creole Breakfast menu alongside its popular lunch specials and extensive dinner offerings.
The core of the menu revolves around traditional, hearty Haitian dinners. Customers can choose from an array of meticulously prepared meats and seafood, such as Fried Goat, Stew Chicken, Oxtail, and the luxurious Stewed Red Snapper. The Fritay section is particularly notable, featuring popular fried options like Fried Beef Fritay, Fried Turkey Fritay, and the classic Fried Pork Fritay. Side dishes like Black Rice, Rice & Beans, and Mac & Cheese complement the main courses, ensuring a satisfying, well-rounded meal. For those seeking lighter fare, the restaurant offers various soups, including Watercress and Squash Soup, and a selection of patties such as Beef Patty and Herring Patty.
Despite its culinary strengths and community appeal, it is necessary to address critical feedback from past customers. Reviews have raised significant concerns regarding the consistency of food quality and ingredients. Specific complaints note dishes not tasting fresh, such as pâté kòdé, and confusion or alleged deception regarding the composition of certain menu items, like the replacement of expected "boulette" with potato and saltfish fritters, or "legumes" made with liver meat instead of beef. For a small, local business in the discerning New York market, maintaining absolute transparency, food quality, and freshness is non-negotiable. While the flavors are highly praised by many, the management must rigorously address these specific concerns about ingredient consistency and food preparation practices to ensure a trustworthy experience for all patrons.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I hate to post something negative about a small business, but this was unacceptable. I ordered a pâté kòdé, and it did not taste fresh. It looks like they had made it several days prior and simply fried it. It was not tasty; it was horrible. I’m posting this because I need them to stop this practice, as it’s not healthy, and it’s dishonest.
July 07 · Judith S. PierreHonestly this place is one of the worst haitian spot I have been too. This was the second time my husband bought for them. The first time my husband bought from them they lied about what's in their food. I get it food is expensive but charged me for what I am paying for. I hate to be deceived. Now this time around the same thing he ordered boulette just to find out it was just potatoes and saltfish frittersWhen serving boulette specify what it truly is. We also got legumes they let my husband know that it's with beef but it's liver meat. This was not ok. Bad services. The restaurant needs to do better.
June 08 · sarah rodneyAnother local gem that doesn’t disappoint. This wasn’t my first time ordering from Creole Plate but it was my first larger order for myself and friends. Amongst 6 of us, we got griot, fried chicken, salmon, black rice , macaroni and cheese, plantain, fritay, pikliz and their fruit champagne soda. Sooooooo good, everyone had to take a break and simply enjoy the food. There was a bit of a wait for the food, so I’d recommend calling in advance. All in all, worth the wait 10/10 !!
December 15 · ZO XOYon sel pate pou $5, mesye a fou. I got the griot and bannan peze fried plantains and fried pork. The food was decent, overpriced for what I’m use to. It’s ok I guess. My parents liked their food, they said it was great. So I gave them four stars.
July 24 · Mimie JThe lalo (green vegetable) tastes good but full of sands, it looks like the vegetable isn’t washed at all. That’s terrible, nasty! I waisted my money. Sir, you need to do better and be fair, I doubt it that you will give your family this nasty lalo!
