Daintree Introduce
New York City's skyline is a sight to behold, but nothing quite compares to enjoying it from a sophisticated rooftop bar with a perfect cocktail in hand. Among the city’s many elevated lounges, Daintree stands out as a true gem. Tucked away on the 29th floor of a Midtown building, this Australian-inspired bar and restaurant offers a unique escape from the street-level chaos. It’s a place that masterfully blends a trendy, upscale vibe with a cozy, inviting atmosphere, making it a perfect destination for both a romantic evening and a lively get-together with friends.
Daintree is more than just a place to grab a drink; it's a carefully curated experience. The bar offers both an indoor, closed space with comfortable seating and an open-air terrace, allowing guests to choose their preferred atmosphere. The true star of the show, however, is the breathtaking view of the Empire State Building. This iconic landmark serves as a stunning backdrop, especially when lit up at night, turning a simple drink into a memorable moment. This incredible visual, combined with a great selection of food and drinks, is what lands Daintree on all the "best of" lists for New York's rooftop bars.
The food and beverage program at Daintree is designed to complement its sophisticated setting. The cocktail menu features both unique house creations and refined classics, all expertly mixed. The wine and beer lists are thoughtfully curated, with options that cater to various tastes. The food menu, while concise, offers a range of small plates and bar bites that are perfect for sharing, including some surprisingly delicious options. The service is consistently noted as being friendly and efficient, adding to the overall positive experience. The following sections will provide a closer look at what makes Daintree a must-visit spot, from its accessible location to its happy hour specials and unique features.
Location and Accessibility
Daintree is located at 25 W 38th St, 29th Floor, New York, NY 10018, placing it right in the heart of Midtown Manhattan, between Fifth Avenue and Sixth Avenue. Its elevated position on the 29th floor ensures an unobstructed, spectacular view. The bar is easily accessible by public transportation, with numerous subway lines (including the B, D, F, M at 42nd St-Bryant Park, and the 1, 2, 3, A, C, E, N, Q, R, W, S trains at Times Sq - 42 St) all within walking distance.
Accessibility is a key feature, as Daintree offers a wheelchair accessible entrance and restroom, ensuring that all guests can enjoy the space comfortably. While the open-air terrace is a flight of stairs up from the main bar area, the primary seating and bar are on the main floor. Guests can easily find the entrance to the building and take the lift up to the 29th floor. The location in a commercial building also means that parking is available in nearby paid parking garages, though public transit is often the most convenient option in this busy neighborhood.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1We had heard about this place on one of those 'best rooftop bars in NYC' lists. It didn't disappoint. Up in the lift we went, greeted by a friendly staff member who asked if we had a reservation, no we were just there for a drink. Unfortunately she didn't have any seats at the windows but we were welcome to sit on the roof terrace. That is why we came, don't you love it when a plan comes together! The roof terrace was small but perfectly formed. Luckily it was quiet - on a Friday night and we got a prime spot right in front of the Empire State Building. This is simply an epic view! The bar staff were friendly and efficient. We had a mixture of cocktails and wine between us, all of which were good, if a little pricey but with a view like this, you don't expect it to be cheap. We had a great few hours there and got chatting to other guests who began joining us on what was our own private terrace. As you can see from the photos, we timed our visit at just the right time to be able to catch the Empire State in all lights 😉This bar should definitely be on your NY 'to go' list, even if it's just for a quick drink with a view.
April 25 · Review LadA cute and not so obvious rooftop bar with a closed space (more cosy seating) and an open air bar (no frills and quite small) one stairs flight up. Great view of Emprise State Building. Happy hour cocktails are great and service is ok, may be a bit slow. Surprisingly delicious chicken nuggets, but fried shrimp too oily.
September 07 · HANE XxxxWe went to this place mainly for the rooftop, and I can confidently say it was the right choice. Even though it was a Friday night, it wasn’t too crowded, and the rooftop offers a direct, stunning view of the Empire State Building. The only downside was that the bar closed a bit earlier than expected — around 11 PM — so plan accordingly if you’re going later in the evening.
August 22 · Nurdan KilincogluWent on a weekday (Tuesday) after work to catch up with a friend visiting town. No wait, good drinks, and lovely views. Our server was lovely and even charged my phone. Didn’t order food, just drinks that I thought were refreshing and deliciousIt wasn’t too crowded or loud which is perfect for conversations with friends
August 01 · Brenda MunozWent for corp happy hour event, great catering, drink selection and quick bussing. The rooftop bar has good views of the Empire State building, alas other directions are obscured by adjacent midtown highrises. Good lounge to chill for an afterwork drink or two. Steak & salmon cooked beautifully.
