What is Worth Choosing
Dakota's On The Cove is worth choosing for several compelling reasons, particularly for those in the Bronx seeking a unique dining environment and a broad menu selection. The restaurant’s strengths clearly lie in its unique atmosphere, management, and extensive offerings.
Atmosphere and Hospitality
The consensus on the location is overwhelmingly positive. Patrons consistently praise the 10/10 ambiance and the views of the water and bridge. The beautiful backyard and the "fishing town village" vibe make it an ideal spot for a relaxing evening. Furthermore, the hospitality and respect from the owners and staff are highly valued, with the manager, Raul, being specifically noted as very attentive. This commitment to a friendly, welcoming, and professional service environment is a strong reason to visit.
Menu Versatility
The menu is exceptionally diverse, offering choices beyond traditional seafood that appeal to nearly everyone in a group. For seafood lovers, must-try items include the positively reviewed Mussels Marinara ($19.00), which was cited as the "best of the entire food." Other compelling seafood entrées include the Seared Salmon With Citrus Glaze ($25.00), Crab Cakes ($28.00), and the Schmitty Seafood Pasta ($34.00).
For non-seafood options, the menu includes:
- Pastas: Options like the Penne Vodka ($21.00) and Romano Crusted Chicken + Pasta ($23.00).
- Entrées: The hearty Sliced NY Strip Steak ($31.00) and Herb Grilled Chicken ($23.00).

A Balanced View on Quality and Service
It is important to provide a factual, balanced perspective based on customer feedback. While one review described the food as "absolutely out of this world" and the manager and hospitality as excellent, another noted inconsistencies, such as a linguine dish that was dry and other items that were "not the best," suggesting the kitchen might benefit from continued refinement.
Conversely, while the food was criticized by some, the service was praised by that same individual. Meanwhile, a different patron who loved the food was "upset" by the slow table service, noting a long wait for bread, water, and checks.
This means Dakota's On The Cove is an establishment with high aspirations and potential. It is worth choosing for its unbeatable waterfront location, its welcoming and professional management, its extensive bar program (great cocktails!), and the high quality of specific dishes like the Mussels Marinara. For New Yorkers looking for a beautiful, atmospheric spot with great hospitality and a diverse menu, this Bronx establishment should definitely be on the list.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1The food was absolutely out of this world. The ambiance is something out of a fishing town village. Marina , Throggs Neck bridge and the water 10/10. The backyard is absolutely beautiful and inviting. My only complaint is the service and that’s a big one for me. We waited exactly 15mins to get bread & water. Finally when the woman taking care of our table came over . We ordered food and drinks. It took her about 20-25 mins to come check on us. At this time we were already done with food and our first drinks. Ordered a 2nd round. Then took her another 20-25mins to ask if if we wanted anything else and or the check. We had already asked the manager for the check. The service was lacking. That upset me because everything else is up to par. I’ll go back again but is the service hasn’t improved. It will be my last time going to Dakota on the cove.
September 28 · Ashley LeasiolagiIt was my first time at this restaurant. Decided to go on this 4th of July because it had some good reviews. To my surprise, I was very disappointed with their food. The service was great, manager Raul was very attentive as well as the waitress. They were very kind and friendly and professional. The food itself was not the best, the linguine and crusted chicken was not cooked properly, and very little taste and linguine was a little dry. The Manhattan clam chowder was not really a Manhattan Clam chowder you can tell by the picture I have posted, was very watery. The fried calamari was ok not the best, I have had better. The Mussels Marinara, was the best of the entire food we had. For someone who travels a lot and eats and reviews many restaurants, I was disappointed in their food, The place is very clean beautiful. I met the owners who were very friendly and welcome myself to their restaurant. As a business owner myself I value the hospitality and respect and caring, they had this. I think they need a chef with more experience because one plate, I had to return and the plate replaced was still not the best. Don’t get me wrong but this place can be a gem in the Bronx, if the cooking is much better.
July 04 · Latin Impulse MagazineI had my graduation party this past weekend at Dakota’s, the manager, Raul provided us with amazing service. We did the catering package that accommodates children as well. The catering package came with appetizers, pasta, and two entrées for everyone at the table, family style. The food was fresh and amazing with enough to go around. When I got there, the tables were set with beautiful rose petals that gave a sophisticated and delightful atmosphere. The staff even printed out personal menus just for the event. Everyone enjoyed themselves. I will definitely be coming back to Dakota‘s for other catering events. :)
May 24 · Jaylin MarinesI am truly at a loss for words to capture the sheer beauty of this place. My husband and I had the pleasure of stopping by yesterday just before closing, and what a delightful surprise it was! Even though I was dressed in an oversized T-shirt and cargo pants, we were welcomed with such warmth and respect—it felt like we were royalty. This restaurant is an absolute gem! The dining area, the bar, and the spacious patio overlooking the marina are simply stunning. I've traveled the world, and this restaurant stands proudly among the top-notch destinations I've had the pleasure of visiting.Even though we had already enjoyed dinner, we couldn’t resist ordering an appetizer and a couple of drinks. The coconut shrimp were divine, with a sweet, spicy, savory flavor that left me wanting to sip on the sauce all night long! Our bartender, Emily, has a smile that could brighten anyone's day, and Raul, the manager, was incredibly kind and professional. He took the time to give us a tour with such genuine kindness and respect, regardless of our casual attire. It’s rare to find such considerate treatment these days; it felt as if we were dressed in our finest gowns and tuxedos. As we relaxed at the bar with our delicious drinks, we noticed other guests arriving after the kitchen had closed. To our delight, the manager graciously reopened the kitchen to serve them! Now that’s what I call excellent customer service. We can't wait to return!
September 07 · Angela RStopped by for drinks after dinner with my husband, and what a pleasant surprise this was. Such a warm and welcoming environment. The elevated and chill ambiance was a plus. My husband ended up ordering the mussels, which he loved. I had the marina margarita, and the chocolate cake, both exquisite! Will definitely be going back for dinner.
