Danji Introduce
In a city with a seemingly endless array of dining options, some places stand out for their exceptional quality and unique culinary perspective. Danji, a renowned Korean restaurant in Hell’s Kitchen, is one such establishment. This gorgeous little restaurant is more than just a place to eat; it's a culinary destination celebrated for its modern, tapas-style approach to Korean cuisine. Since its opening, Danji has garnered critical acclaim and a loyal following, even earning the distinction of being the first-ever Korean restaurant in New York City to be awarded a Michelin star. While the space may be "tiny," its charm and the excellence of its food and cocktails are anything but.
Danji’s menu is a carefully curated selection of both traditional and inventive dishes. The concept is centered around small plates, encouraging guests to share and explore a wide range of flavors. This makes it a perfect spot for adventurous foodies who want to try a bit of everything. The food is often described as a "love letter" to Korean cuisine, with a focus on fresh, high-quality, and organic ingredients. The ambiance is cozy, trendy, and intimate, with a warm, "gorgeous" atmosphere that makes it ideal for a special night out or a pre-show dinner in the Theater District.
The restaurant's reputation is built on its consistent quality and inventive spirit. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Gorgeous little restaurant. I stopped in before seeing a show and it was fantastic. I enjoyed the spicy dried radish, the soft and crispy tofu and the black sesame seed gelato. The servers were all very kind and attentive. I definitely recommend coming here but be sure to make a reservation.
June 28 · Mya ZeppI really liked the food and cocktails here. Gorgeous atmosphere too helped enjoying New York night with my family. Korean Fried chicken and Bossam were definitely must-eat menu. Seoul something bourbon whiskey cocktail was so good!
August 14 · Jm SOne of the best Korean restaurants I’ve tried in the city! Totally unplanned and discovered via Resy on Wed eve as was in Chelsea for event. All the dishes were well seasoned and cocktails had unique twists. Chicken wings are a highlight! Def coming back to try other dishes!
May 07 · Jenn LDanji is back. Danji isn’t just a comeback story. It is a quiet, confident reminder that greatness doesn’t need to reinvent itself with every reboot. Sometimes, you just need to survive the explosion, dust yourself off and bring back the same damn deliciousness that made people fall in love the first time.
July 17 · Toby LubovGo Huang Sliders and Fried rice were delicious and Cathi was an awesome server. The hospitality shown by the restaurant overall was excellent!
