Dominick's Introduce
Welcome to the heart of the Bronx's "real Little Italy," where culinary tradition and a vibrant community spirit thrive on Arthur Avenue. Among the many celebrated food establishments, one name stands out as a true neighborhood landmark and a beloved institution for generations of New Yorkers: Dominick's Italian Restaurant.
Dominick's, located at 2335 Arthur Ave, is far more than just a place to eat—it is a living piece of New York Italian-American history, upholding traditions that have long vanished in other parts of the city. Since its founding in 1962, Dominick's has committed to a distinctly old-school, no-frills, and highly authentic dining experience. For local diners seeking gargantuan portions of classic red-sauce dishes and a truly communal atmosphere, Dominick's is a mandatory pilgrimage.
The restaurant's reputation is built on its distinctive approach to service, which can be an adventure for newcomers. Traditionally, there is no printed menu or stated prices; patrons discuss their desired meal with the waiter, who then acts as a culinary guide, suggesting and delivering the day's fresh, classic offerings. This conversational ordering style adds to the unique, family-centric ambiance that defines a meal at Dominick's. While a single, small menu has reportedly been added to the back wall, the preferred and time-honored method remains a casual chat with your server.
For those who crave authentic, traditional Italian-American comfort food, this is the destination. Dominick’s serves dishes that are generous, hearty, and cooked with a passion that echoes through the decades. From expertly prepared antipasti and seafood to classic veal and chicken entrées, the flavors here are robust and genuine. It’s the kind of cooking that makes you feel instantly at home, with massive portions perfect for sharing.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1A friend had recommended this place and so we tried it. It’s definitely a no-frills kind of environment so you definitely don’t go for the service. They are very fast and efficient but it feels more of an effort to flip the table. We sat downstairs, but there’s also a large area upstairs that had seating and was a lot quieter. The dishes are HUGE and 2-3 people could split a main dish with the portion sizes. The chicken Parmesan hit the spot and I’d come back for that alone. We also tried the stuffed artichoke, but it wasn’t great.
May 04 · Anna Karnowski“I have eaten as much as I can, not as much as I want to, but as much as I can.”Per a son on the verge of summer break at Dominick’s Italian on Arthur Street, Bronx. The mussels starter with tomatoes sauce was outstanding. Omg. I usually only eat mussels with butter and garlic but I am converted!Ossobuco, Roast Pork and Cabbage, and Lamb Chops were truly excellent. The steak was declared very good (and fully consumed). The potatoes with the steak were fine but not life changing. This might be because the dishes were on the upper range of perfectly salty. By contrast the potatoes were not salted. One sits family style, sharing tables for 8 (or 12) with other patrons. On a gentler day we might have made some new friends, but we came hungry and impatient today. We love this style of eating, and have been here before.Highly recommended!
May 22 · sweeta babeetaMy father took me here 50 years ago. They wrote the menu on a paper bag and hung it on the wall. They have a menu now for those who need it. Great southern Italian food at reasonable prices. They use san marzano tomatoes and extra virgin olive oil which are the highest quality ingredients. I highly recommend a visit.
