Diners can find hearty "swallow" foods like Pounded Yam, Eba, and Amala paired with rich soups like Egusi, Ogbono, and Efo Riro. For those new to African cuisine or simply craving a classic, the Jollof Rice is a popular favorite. The generous portions and the commitment to authentic, high-quality preparation have cemented Eko Suya Spot's status as a top choice for Nigerian food in the Bronx, offering both excellent value for money and service excellence. What Is Worth Choosing
For any New Yorker stepping into Eko Suya Spot, the choices that define the restaurant’s identity and bring the most authentic Nigerian experience are what’s truly worth selecting.
First, the Suya is a non-negotiable choice. As it’s in the name, this is the specialty. The Beef Suya or the Spicy Roasted Chicken Suya is a must-try. This delicious, highly seasoned grilled meat is a cornerstone of West African street food, providing a smoky, spicy flavor that is uniquely satisfying. It’s perfect as a flavorful small plate or as a side to a main meal. Given the restaurant’s dedication to this dish, you can expect an expertly prepared version.
Next, dive into the classic Nigerian staple: Egusi Soup and Pounded Yam. The Egusi Soup is rich, savory, and thickened with ground melon seeds, often served with mixed meats or fish. Paired with Pounded Yam (a soft, pliable "swallow" food similar to mashed potatoes but with a heavier texture), this combination is one of the most traditional and satisfying comfort meals available. Customers rave about how the food reminds them of "Granny’s recipes," and traditional meals like this are the heart of that sentiment. For a budget-friendly option, a smaller portion of the Jollof Rice ($10.99) is always a great choice—this famous rice dish, cooked in a flavorful tomato and spice base, is a global sensation for a reason and provides a fantastic quick bite.
Finally, consider the Asun (Spicy Goat Meat) ($23.50). This appetizer or small plate, featuring spicy smoked goat meat, is a highly popular and flavorful option that captures the rich, bold taste of Nigerian cuisine. It’s the ideal choice for those who appreciate heat and robust seasoning.
The consistent quality of the food, the friendly, familiar staff, and the incredibly diverse menu of authentic comfort meals solidify Eko Suya Spot as a premier African dining choice in the Bronx. This is a place where every dollar spent delivers on flavor, authenticity, and a genuinely cozy dining experience.

April 11 · Patrick OladipoEko Suya Spot in the Bronx truly shines with its vegetable and fufu dish! The vegetables are fresh, vibrant, and cooked to perfection, bursting with flavor and a delightful mix of spices. They pair wonderfully with the fufu, which is incredibly soft and has the perfect texture for soaking up the delicious accompanying sauces. The dish is not only satisfying but also showcases the restaurant's commitment to quality ingredients and authentic preparation methods. Whether you’re a vegetarian or just looking to enjoy a hearty meal, this combination is a fantastic choice. The warm and inviting atmosphere, along with friendly service, makes dining here a wonderful experience. Highly recommend giving this dish a try!
September 12 · Oyadina9First off the gentleman that greeted us when we came in was very professional and welcoming. He was patient with us explaining the different dishes' taste and flavor. He was also able to convey to the kitchen our need to eat less spicy. Not related to us, but I was very impressed with his handling of impatient customers: professionally but practically. We ordered the pounded yam to go with egusi soup with mixed meat, suya, fish with red soup. All these three dishes were finger licking 😋level and well cooked. In my opinion the mixed meat portion could have been larger. If you are visiting the Bronx, I highly recommend. I know I will hit that spot again to try other items on the menu
July 31 · Monia&Eve LifeI discovered them online and called for home delivery. Even though I was outside their delivery scope, they went above and beyond. The food is 10/10 and they can customize to your taste buds. I recommend the jollof, moimoi, edikaikong, efo riro ... well, I recommend everything. 😃I also managed to visit their location once and it is a nice cozy place.Yes, the wait time for the meals are long because they are prepared fresh but it is 100% worth it.I hope the standards are kept that way for a longtime.
