To experience the best of Empanadas Monumental and truly tap into the authentic Dominican flavors they offer, certain items consistently stand out as must-try options for New Yorkers.
First and foremost, you must try the signature Empanadas. With over 25 varieties, you are encouraged to mix and match. The savory Chicken And Cheese and the traditional Ground Beef are excellent starting points. For something unique, the Guaba And Cheese empanada provides a delicious mix of sweet and savory that is characteristic of the region. At $2.50 apiece, they are the ideal quick bite.
For a more substantial, signature Dominican meal, order a Yaroa. This is the restaurant's take on loaded fries or plantains. Choose the Fries Yaroa (or Platain Yaroa for a more authentic, plantain-based version) and select your favorite meat. This hearty plate of layered ingredients—fries or plantain, your choice of meat, cheese, and a special house sauce—is a massive and satisfying comfort food experience.
Finally, for those who love authentic street food, the Chimis ($9.99) are essential. This is a classic Dominican-style burger, traditionally made with a seasoned meat patty, topped with cooked cabbage, tomatoes, onions, and a special house sauce. It’s a messy, flavorful experience that truly captures the vibrancy of Dominican cuisine. Pair it with a refreshing Morir Sonando natural juice to complete the meal. While some customer experiences, as noted in reviews, suggest occasional issues with service or specific dishes (like the American Hot Dog), focusing on these core Dominican specialties will offer the most authentic and celebrated flavors of Empanadas Monumental.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I was excited to try this spot because of the variety of empanadas, but I won’t ever go back. The woman at the register was rude and didn’t even make eye contact. I ordered a beef empanada, took one bite, and threw it straight in the trash. The dough was soft and undercooked, definitely not fried right, and the filling was dry and flavorless. Total disappointment. 0 stars!!!!
July 25 · Yosmery FelizI order on uber some American hot dogs. The first thing is that it said it came with French fries, and it didn't and the second thing is that the hot dog came practically empty, just the sausage and ketchup. The sausage was extremely spicy, you couldn't even eat it and it didn't look like an American hot dog at all. I WOULD NOT ORDER IT AGAIN AND I DO NOT RECOMMEND IT!🤮.
July 07 · Purple LoveFood was dry. more dough then what was stuffed inside .. there no crispy. It's baked.. not fried. Just not a empanada.. there no favors. You need something to dip it in. There's no Latino taste.
April 22 · Jessica Bonds-reelReallyyy good, very friendly and the food is delicious and warm
February 12 · Rosalia HermonI buy food here a few times a month. All types of fresh empanadas, a juice smoothie bar and the sandwiches are great. One favorites is the chicken club donr for get to get a extra sauce on the side because I like to dip the sandwich in it. The chicken is great too it's big and the chicken is very juicy. Good workers friendly and good music while you wait. And did I menti6 the place is always spotless.
