Fern & Aurora stands out in the New York bakery scene by specializing in sweets that celebrate the vibrant tastes of the Philippines. While many bakeries offer classic American or European fare, this shop masterfully integrates ingredients like ube (purple yam) and calamansi (a Filipino citrus) into sophisticated pastries, creating exciting and balanced flavor profiles that are less sweet than many traditional options. This culinary approach, combined with an owner's extensive experience in the fine dining scene, elevates their baked goods beyond the ordinary. For those living in or visiting the Queens area, Fern & Aurora Dessert Shop is an essential stop for a coffee, a pastry, or a full breakfast experience.

The true magic of Fern & Aurora Dessert Shop lies in the distinctive features that set it apart from typical New York bakeries. From its culinary foundation to its community-centric environment, it offers an experience that is both locally authentic and globally inspired.
- Filipino-French Culinary Fusion: The bakery specializes in small-batch desserts that expertly blend traditional Filipino flavors—like ube, calamansi, and adobo—with classic French baking techniques. This unique fusion results in delicate, flaky, and richly flavored treats like the Calamansi Meringue and Ube Donuts.
- Asian- and Women-Owned Business: The business is proud to be both Asian-owned and women-owned, contributing to the rich tapestry of small, independent businesses that make New York City special. The founder and chef, Cherry Adame, has a background in fine dining, which is reflected in the quality and presentation of every item.

- Commitment to Freshness: All baked goods and desserts are made fresh every day, ensuring that every croissant is buttery and flaky, and every cake is moist and flavorful. The use of seasonal and in-market ingredients also ensures a rotating menu that is always dynamic and current.
- Family-Friendly Atmosphere and Vibe: Customers consistently highlight the cozy, cute, and welcoming interior, often comparing it to a storybook café. The thoughtful amenities, which have included a free little library and coloring books for children, ensure it is a comfortable and appealing spot for individuals, families, and quick-stop commuters alike.
- Savory Surprises: While primarily a dessert shop, the inclusion of savory Filipino-inspired items like the Adobo Hand Pie and various meat-and-cheese croissant sandwiches provides satisfying lunch and snack options, offering a full range of flavors to local patrons.
While the menu is expansive and seasonal, first-time visitors and repeat customers alike often gravitate toward a few standout items that truly showcase the bakery's unique identity and skill. Choosing what to try can be the hardest part of the visit, but focusing on the fusion and specialty items guarantees a memorable experience.
For the quintessential Filipino-inspired taste, you must try the Ube Burnt Basque Cheesecake. It's lauded for its perfect balance—rich, creamy texture with a slight crunch on top, all complemented by the fresh, earthy flavor of ube. Another excellent choice is the Calamansi Meringue, a bright and balanced tart that uses calamansi puree instead of lemon, providing a delightful Filipino citrus tang that is both tart and refreshing.
If you are visiting in the morning or looking for a comforting beverage, the Ube Latte is the shop's signature drink and a popular complement to any pastry. For a truly flaky and decadent experience, sample one of the French-style Croissants—a testament to the chef's fine dining training—or the fan-favorite Ube Donut. Those seeking a savory bite should not miss the Adobo Hand Pie, a creative and satisfying take on a classic Filipino dish encased in perfect pastry.
In short, Fern & Aurora Dessert Shop is a destination that delivers on its promise of small-batch, delicious treats that celebrate the vibrant tastes of the Philippines with a modern, French-inspired sensibility. Its warm atmosphere, quality ingredients, and unique menu make it one of Little Neck, Queens' most cherished local businesses.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1✨NYC Hidden Gem Alert✨On my trip to New York City, I stumbled into the cutest little French-style bakery—Aurora and Fern—and I’m so glad I did. 💕 The walls are pink, the art is playful, and the whole vibe feels cozy and welcoming, like you’ve stepped into a storybook café.The pastries? Incredible. 🥐 The head chef is French-trained, and you can taste it—flaky croissants, delicate tarts, and treats that are as beautiful as they are delicious. I paired mine with a latte, and honestly, it was one of those small travel moments I’ll remember forever. What makes this place extra special is how family-friendly it is. They have a free little library, coloring books for kids, and plenty of space for families to relax. It’s rare to find a spot in NYC that feels this thoughtful and welcoming for everyone.Aurora and Fern is the perfect mix of chic + cozy, with a touch of European charm right in the city. August 02 · EktaI saw this bakery snuggled away while driving past it & knew I had to return. The inside is nice & clean. It's Filipino style desserts which is lovely. They have a large selection of dessert items to choose from.On the weekend's they sellout fast so get here early. I had their Banana bread loaf which was my favorite of everything. It was so soft and warm, wish I'd gotten more of it.The burnt basque cheesecake was nice & decadent. The BonBons were absolute perfection. They have a seasonal and rotating menu which always has something delicious to offer. They have these adorable boxes to pack the food in with a colorful pink theme. The staff is kind & helpful. They have a small lot to park your car in which is appreciated. I've honestly never been to a dessert shop such as Fern & Aurora, it's a nice change from the regular ole baked goods. I highly recommend everybody to come check them out.
April 19 · zo maqEdit: finally tried the strawberry matcha and I’m obsessed! I personally don’t drink anything sweet. The matcha was unsweetened which balance so well with the strawberry jamObsessed with the dessert, especially the ube butter mochi! It usually sells out in the morning. Recommending going early
July 26 · Angela YangVery disappointed at the 4.9 rating. Bought a small vanilla strawberry cake to bring to a friend house because it looks so pretty with the floral buttercream decor. When the host cut it, and we all took a bite, we had to spit it back out because it’s very obvious it’s not fresh, like it’s from yesterday. The cake was not smooth. The moist of the cake is from the overnight strawberries which looks very unappetizing. Such a waste to throw the whole cake away. And such embarrassment for me to bring this nasty cake to a friends house. $25. Plus taxes, came out to be almost $28. I was expecting much better from a 4.9 rating bakery. Please look into this matter and hope you can make a better experience for other customers. Because I am not going back.
