Situated on Rockaway Parkway, this restaurant aims to provide authentic flavors and a lively, accessible dining environment for the community. The core menu is built around popular, hearty Caribbean staples, offering comforting and flavorful options suitable for any time of the day, from a quick bite to a full, satisfying dinner.
The restaurant caters to a wide and diverse audience, popular with **Locals, College students, Families, and Tourists** alike. Its atmosphere is categorized as both **Casual** and **Trendy**, suggesting a relaxed yet vibrant setting that is conducive to spontaneous visits. Service is versatile, accommodating modern consumer demands with options for **Delivery, Takeout, and Dine-in**. Furthermore, its hours extend to provide **Late-night food**, making it a valuable resource for those seeking quality meals outside of standard dining hours.
The extensive food and drink menu features essential Caribbean proteins and sides. Main courses include favorites like **Jerk Chicken, Stew Chicken, Curry Chicken, Oxtail, Goat, and Fish**, with prices reflecting typical Brooklyn dining values. Sides such as **Rice & Peas, Mac & Cheese, Cabbage, and Plantains** ensure a complete and traditional Caribbean meal. This broad offering, coupled with service options like accepting reservations despite often having a wait, positions Fisherman's Cove as a significant destination within the 11236 area code.
Fisherman's Cove is located at **1420 Rockaway Pkwy, Brooklyn, NY 11236, USA**. This address places the establishment in the heart of Canarsie, a highly accessible and key area within southeastern Brooklyn. Rockaway Parkway is a major, high-traffic corridor, ensuring the restaurant benefits from excellent visibility and convenient local access.
For patrons utilizing New York’s public transit system, the location on a major parkway means it is well-served by several MTA bus lines. While the exact proximity to subway stations may require local knowledge, Canarsie is generally accessible via the L train line, making the restaurant reachable from a significant portion of Brooklyn and Manhattan with a final bus transfer or car ride. The restaurant’s strategic placement within the 11236 zip code reinforces its role as a dedicated neighborhood institution, easy for locals to reach whether they are coming from home, work, or school. Given the restaurant’s popularity for lunch, dinner, and even late-night service, its street-level accessibility on a primary avenue is a major benefit for quick pickups and spontaneous dine-in visits. Furthermore, the area is generally accommodating for various modes of transit, including ride-shares and personal vehicles, though parking availability, as is typical in a dense New York neighborhood, may vary.

Diverse and Affordable Menu: The offering includes numerous popular mains such as **Oxtail ($15.00 - $16.00), Fish ($15.25), and Jerk Chicken ($11.75)**, supported by a range of traditional sides, making it an accessible choice for diverse budgets.

High Local Popularity: The restaurant is demonstrably popular, indicated by being noted as a destination for **Locals, College students, and Tourists**, and by the service option note that there is **Usually a wait**.
Factual Customer Experience Note (Critical Quality Warning): Despite its popularity, customers should be aware of significant, documented quality concerns. Multiple reviews mention issues with protein preparation, specifically citing **hairy, hard, undercooked, and not properly cleaned/skinned oxtail**, and instances of **dry/hard plantains**. One customer noted spending $25 on a meal that was deemed "disgusted with what had seen" and advised future patrons to "Skip this location unless you want undercooked hairy meat." For a local user in the New York region, Fisherman’s Cove is a venue that presents a clear trade-off between **convenience and potential culinary risk**. It is worth choosing for its highly accessible location in Canarsie, its **versatile service options (Dine-in, Takeout, Delivery)**, and its extensive offering of authentic Caribbean comfort food favorites like the highly demanded **Oxtail** and classic **Jerk Chicken**. If you are looking for a lively, casual, and trendy spot that is open late and offers a wide array of options for both seafood lovers and fans of West Indian cuisine, this restaurant fulfills that logistical requirement perfectly.
However, it is crucial that the choice be informed by the verifiable customer reports. While the menu is appealing and the prices are typical for the area, the multiple, explicit customer complaints detailing severe quality control issues—specifically citing **undercooked, hard, and poorly cleaned meat**—cannot be ignored. Therefore, a discerning New York diner may choose this location for its accessibility and broad menu but should exercise caution, particularly when ordering high-value items like the Oxtail. The restaurant is an essential part of the local dining landscape, especially for its late-night availability, but prospective patrons should weigh the benefit of its convenience and authentic menu against the documented risk of inconsistent food preparation quality. If the kitchen standards improve and the reported issues with meat preparation are definitively addressed, Fisherman’s Cove has the potential to be a truly outstanding neighborhood favorite.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Trash look at all the fat on the oxtail! Smh 23 dollars this is ridiculous why would I want to eat that? Do better or shut this location down too.
September 24 · Nina HaleyFisherman’s cove literally forced my hand into writing this review because this is completely absurd! I had ordered a plate of oxtail with rice & peas, cabbage and plantain… it ran me a good $25! $25 for dry/hard plantains and hard, undercooked, not cleaned/skinned properly oxtail! I was very hungry and by time I was nearly finished with my food I was super disgusted with what I had seen. As I was eating, I noticed the oxtail did have an off taste to it, kind of like they just had an off day tho. It just wasn’t as good as the other locations. The oxtail was hard and chewy but I had just spent $25 and was very hungry so I still ate it. I also wasn’t able to take the food back since I was already at good distance away from the location. I thought my eyes were deceiving me and couldn’t help but to bring up all the food I had just ate 🤮 $25 out the window. I almost ate a hairy piece of oxtail and it just proved to me that from the beginning I wasn’t going crazy. It did have an off taste, it was too hard and chewy and it just wasn’t cooked correctly. Here’s what I was left with from this location. If you’re thinking about trying this place.. DONT! Skip this location unless you want undercooked hairy meat.
December 18 · Rosegold DI am very disappointed in today's service. I've been going there everyday this week and today I bought the jerk chicken and it was burned. I thought it was curious that they gave me a lot of chicken for a small order. And It turned out they were just trying to get rid of their burned chicken. You will never get my money EVER AGAIN.!!!
September 19 · Mily MoralesI visited this location for the first time today. It was the worst mistake of spending my $13. Bought a Jerk Chicken meal. When I came home and opened the meal to eat several hours later there was 2 bugs inside on the meat alive. Not only was I embarrassed, I was angry and annoyed. This location should be shut done immediately.
August 23 · Nichelle EasonDining in or takeout are booth great options for this restaurant. However, this issue is the same with any Jamaican restaurant. The side talking while customers are waiting on their food to move down the prep line. The place is clean, bright and the offers both cash and cashless system. Everyone had a hair net on. There is some seating but delivery is available to those who love door to door service.
