What is Worth Choosing at Guac Time Mexican Grill
For local New Yorkers seeking a reliable and satisfying Mexican meal in Queens, Guac Time Mexican Grill presents a compelling proposition, particularly due to its Halal offering and incredible menu flexibility. The strength of this restaurant lies in its ability to cater to individual preferences and specific dietary or fitness goals.
The 'Create Your Own' section is undoubtedly the biggest draw for a quick, personalized meal. At a consistent price point for most large items (around $12.99), you can choose your base—a Burrito Bowl, a classic Burrito, a refreshing Salad Bowl, or the hearty Loaded Fries Bowl or Loaded Nachos Bowl. This build-your-own model ensures every patron gets exactly what they are craving, whether it’s a fully customized $13.00 Quesadilla or a simple $9.00 two-piece Taco serving. This commitment to customization and value is hard to beat for a daily lunch or solo dinner.
Beyond the customizable staples, the menu features exciting specialties that are worth the visit. The Birria Taco's section is a highlight, offering both Chicken and Beef options for Tacos (2 or 3 pieces) and even large Birria Pies for $30.00, perfect for sharing or a family meal. Birria has become a sensation, and having a Halal option locally is a huge benefit for the Queens community. Furthermore, the Performance Bowl category is perfect for the health-conscious New Yorker. Options like the High Protein Bowl ($18.98) or the Keto Salad Bowl ($17.99) cater to specific macro needs, while the Jerk Chicken Bowl ($18.99) offers a fusion flavor twist. This is a rare level of specialized menu depth for a casual Mexican grill.
It is important for users to note the overall consensus regarding service. While the restaurant explicitly highlights 'Fast service,' and many patrons enjoy quick meals, some feedback suggests that online order fulfillment can occasionally be subject to longer wait times and potential order accuracy issues (e.g., getting a bowl instead of a burrito). Savvy New Yorkers know that managing expectations and communicating clearly are key, especially during peak hours. Guac Time is best chosen as a highly convenient local spot for quality, fresh, and Halal-compliant Mexican food. If you are ordering online or requesting a specific customization, a quick confirmation phone call might be a worthwhile step to ensure your order—from your two-piece Kids Taco ($8.00) to your large Chips & Guac ($9.99) side—is prepared perfectly.
In summary, Guac Time Mexican Grill is an excellent choice for those living or working in Jamaica, Queens, especially those prioritizing Halal food, seeking highly customizable meal options, and looking for a range of specialty items beyond the basics. The vast menu, including a selection of Mexican and other sodas (Jarritos, Mexican Coke), and desserts like Tres Leche and Churro, provides a complete and satisfying experience for a casual, comfortable meal.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1We’ve been to many similar spots, and this one was just okay. The food was average — definitely not on the same level as TacoExpress, which has better quality and quantity. My friend placed an online order while we were there, and it still took a long time for him to get it. Not really convenient at all. Also, the chicken tasted burnt — not great.Overall, it’s a decent spot if you’re nearby, but I wouldn’t go out of my way for it.
June 18 · Gurpreet SinghI ordered two burritos from them and instead they sent two bowls. I’m not happy about that. If I wanted two bowls I would have ordered bowls instead. Disappointed. Every time the order is always wrong.
September 28 · Ganesh JitlallMy son was looking forward to trying the burrito bowl for a while. The place is called Guac time you'd think their Guacamole would be top tier. It was over salted and looked like it was siting for a good while, In addition they charge an extra $1.49 for Guacamole. The whole bowl with jerk chicken, corn, onion, chips, mango and yellow rice, you'd think it would be flavourful but I felt as if I was eating salt and rice. Hot peppers burrito bowl is way better and they have the best Guacamole I ever had.
September 19 · Faadya BacchusWe love guac time! The food is delicious , clean, lots of variety In protein, sauces, and toppings. Alongside it is at good price point. Best of all it is halal. The women that work in the counter always smile and are ready to help. I especially like the honey chipotle chicken. We takeout as many as two times a week. Love it!
May 20 · Aklima BegumI was visiting Hillside and I stopped my this halal Mexican grill spot. I am a huge fan of Hot Peppers and this has the same type of vibe. It's is clean and has nice decor with good amount of seating space. The service was fast and you have so much customization as to what toppings you want. I ordered the loaded nachos with spicy queso and honey chicken. It was so good and filling!
