★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I really want to play pool and I also had some downtime between meeting my friends later in that day. So I went and I got a beer and I played some pool. There was only one other person playing so I asked if she wanted to play with me and we had a great time. The bartender was very polite and there was lots of room because it was midday. I was a bit hungry so I got the Kale Caesar with the crispy chicken, which was amazing.
June 23 · CelineHeavy Woods used to be one of those Bushwick spots where you could count on a solid plate of food to cut through the noise. Burgers smashed right on the grill, gumbo with some backbone. You went for the food, not just the drinks. Now the prices keep climbing while the soul leaks out. Burgers taste like they came out of a freezer box. The gumbo is so flat you wonder if anyone in the kitchen even tasted it. And the tab at the end feels like a joke when you know there are better places all around the neighborhood. It is sad really. Heavy Woods had something once. These days it just does not make sense to go back.
September 19 · Patrick KosmowskiAbsolutely Disgusting Experience – Discriminatory and Unprofessional BehaviorIf I could give this place zero stars, I would. I came in with my sister and friends for what was supposed to be a fun night out, but instead, I experienced the most disrespectful and discriminatory treatment I’ve ever faced at any establishment. The bartender – flat-out refused to serve me without giving any reason. He served my friends. He served my sister. But when it came to me? He ignored me completely and moved on like I didn’t exist. I asked why, and was met with complete silence and attitude. There’s no other way to call it: this was targeted, personal, and racist. Here’s the part they probably didn’t expect: I work for the health department. I know exactly what standards businesses are expected to uphold — not just in sanitation, but in conduct, professionalism, and equal treatment of all guests. What I witnessed here was a blatant violation of that, and I won’t just be writing this review — I’ll be escalating it to the appropriate channels as well. This behavior is unacceptable, disgusting, and absolutely shameful. No one should ever be made to feel like they’re unwelcome or less than, especially when money is being spent and respect is the bare minimum. Management seriously needs to evaluate who they’ve hired, because this bartender is not only a liability to the business — he’s a walking lawsuit waiting to happen.Avoid this place like the plague. I won’t be back — and trust me, neither will anyone I know. This is the guy !! Be careful everyone!
June 28 · Issamary Roque LopezWe hold Heavy Woods in high regard! The food offers surprising taste experiences. You'll notice the distinct character immediately. Staff members show genuine kindness to diners. This place earns superior marks.
August 29 · Roxane DuchampThe staff make you feel unwelcome the moment you come in. Especially this one sad bald man with a beard, awful energy. Its not my fault they're burnt out from trying to settle and gentrify in my neighborhood, its a spot for regulars and cliques to be honest. Wouldn't recommend this place. Walked right out.
