Ichiran Introduce
In the vibrant and trendy neighborhood of Bushwick, Brooklyn, Ichiran offers a ramen experience that is truly one-of-a-kind. As a globally recognized Japanese chain, Ichiran has brought its signature concept to New York, providing a focused and flavorful culinary journey centered around its classic Tonkotsu ramen. For New Yorkers in search of a late-night meal, a quick and satisfying lunch, or a cozy solo dining experience, Ichiran is a must-visit destination that stands out from the city's crowded culinary landscape.
The hallmark of the Ichiran experience is its unique "flavor concentration booths," designed to eliminate distractions and allow diners to focus entirely on the taste of their ramen. This concept creates a quiet and personal atmosphere, making it an ideal spot for solo diners or anyone looking for a moment of quiet contemplation with their food. The menu is intentionally limited, centered around one core dish: the Classic Tonkotsu Ramen. This singular focus allows the restaurant to perfect its craft, ensuring a consistently high-quality broth that is rich, flavorful, and not greasy.
While the dine-in experience is a major draw for its novelty, the food itself is a testament to the restaurant's quality. The broth is often praised as the best part of the meal, and the toppings, including the perfectly prepared egg and fresh scallions, add layers of flavor. Ichiran also offers a Kae-Dama (Noodle Refill) service, ensuring you can enjoy every last drop of your delicious broth with a fresh serving of noodles. The fast service and the convenience of a limited, well-executed menu make it a perfect spot for those in a hurry or for a satisfying, no-fuss meal.
Beyond the ramen, Ichiran offers a few carefully selected side items and desserts, including the popular Matcha Pudding. This provides a complete dining experience, from a savory main course to a sweet, satisfying finish. While the price point may be on the higher end for a bowl of ramen, the unique concept, quality ingredients, and the convenience of a well-oiled operation make it a worthwhile option for ramen enthusiasts in New York.
Ichiran is located at 374 Johnson Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11206, USA. What makes it particularly worth choosing is its signature, no-nonsense approach to dining. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1All the other Ichiran locations had ridiculously long lines 🍜, so we drove out to this one in Brooklyn. This spot only offers one type of ramen — perfect for the indecisive 😅 — though the menu overall is pretty limited. The price is about $30 per person, which is fairly normal for NYC 💸. As for the taste: not bad at all, but definitely not worth a super long wait. The broth was the best part — rich but not greasy, really flavorful 👍.There were two kinds of pork: one served in the soup, and the other on a separate plate. The one on the plate was much tastier 🥩, while the one in the soup had a really strong, almost unpleasant smell 🤢.Overall, it’s worth a visit if you’re nearby and want to avoid long lines, but not a must-visit spot unless you’re in the area 📍.
August 07 · Z zIchiran Bushwick has a really unique concept with the solo dining booths and quiet vibe, but overall the dine-in experience left us wanting more. The ramen itself is good—solid broth, tasty pork and seaweed, and the egg was actually great (even if you have to peel it yourself at the table). I’d rate the ramen itself an 8.3/10 for flavor. But the overall experience drops it down for me. You order on a tablet, there’s no real service to speak of, and everything feels pretty impersonal. The pricing also feels high. A regular bowl starts at $20 and jumps to $26.50 with add-ons like egg, mushrooms, seaweed, and scallions. And the portions for those extras are small. $3 just for some extra scallions is WILD!!! .Ambiance was fine, but nothing amazing. Honestly, it seems way better suited for takeout than dining in.Overall giving it 3 out of 5 stars. Worth trying if you’re craving tonkotsu in Bushwick, but I’d skip the booth experience and take it to go next time.
July 07 · Dwight KennethExtremely overpriced for what it is. $60 for two bowls of ramen is bonkers. Flavors were good, service nice. Meat was dry. Egg was impossible to separate from shell.
August 02 · G DogHonestly my head went 🤯I can eat here every day for the rest of my life .wow what a soup . I loooove it. Restaurant is super cleanServers and staff in general are friendly and food is a 1000/10 i got a spicy Ramen soup and I was beyond happy with the flavour, portion and price. I will definitely come back pretty pretty soon
April 01 · Evah PThey are the first one who brought the booth ramen to NYC! I’ve been here so often and I forgot to leave a review as they are such a routine part of my life now. 😂 I think they have the best ramen in NYC! That’s enough said! The vibe is so unique and it never gets old! Oh! Kids under 8 can eat here for free now.
