worst restaurant I ever went to. I went there with me and my families, we sat down and they gave us the menu, didn’t give us the side dishes and we were already there for about 15 minutes and they didn’t give anything or cared about us if we didn’t ask. After about 25 minutes they finally came with the dishes that we ordered, weren’t fresh at all, cold and just tastes not good at all. Don’t even get me started on the service it was terrible, we asked for sodas and they gave us all the dented/broken bottles and we couldn’t even open it did I even mention how it cut my fingers?? The cans were half open we just couldn’t open it, we told them that we weren’t able to open to cans and this was what they said in Chinese “You already opened go ask the front desk” and gave us a dirty look/ rolled their eyes at us. At the end when we finished, they didn’t even give us fruits which normal Chinese restaurants would offer but this one didn’t. Would not recommend this restaurant ever!!! - Michelle Chen

What is Worth Choosing

Based on the restaurant’s specializations and customer feedback, New Yorkers visiting Jing Jiang should focus on the fresh seafood and core Chinese noodle offerings to experience the best of what the establishment provides.

  • **The Live Tank Seafood Selections:** The priority must be any seafood dish featuring ingredients taken **straight from the tank**. This is the key feature that the restaurant is praised for. These are typically the seasonal or daily specials, such as whole steamed fish, crabs, or lobster, often cooked in a simple, traditional style (like ginger and scallion or with black bean sauce) to let the inherent freshness shine through. Always ask staff for the day's fresh selections.
  • **Specialty Chinese Noodle Dishes:** As it is also categorized as a Chinese noodle restaurant, one of their signature noodle preparations is highly recommended. While specific dish names are not universally available, exploring their Lo Mein, Chow Mein, or Chow Fun dishes, especially those with shrimp or house special combinations, is a great way to experience the comfort food side of the menu.
  • **Comfort Food Classics:** Look for the dishes that fall under the 'comfort food' umbrella. These are often hearty, savory meals that pair well with the fresh seafood, such as traditional stir-fries, soups, or vegetable dishes common in classic Chinese dining. These items are reliable for a satisfying quick bite or solo meal.
  • **Popular Lunch/Dinner Items:** Since the restaurant is popular for both main dining services, ordering a combination of a substantial noodle dish for a carb base and a premium fresh seafood entree for the main protein is the ideal way to enjoy the dual menu strengths of Jing Jiang.

In summary, Jing Jiang is a no-frills, casual Brooklyn spot that caters to a demanding local clientele, successfully delivering on the promise of exceptionally fresh seafood alongside the warming familiarity of Chinese noodle staples. It provides a simple, satisfying, and authentic dining experience for those in the Sunset Park area and beyond.
