Joe & Pat's NYC Introduce
In a city where pizza is a way of life, finding a place that truly stands out from the rest is a rare and exciting discovery. Joe & Pat's NYC, a Manhattan outpost of the legendary Staten Island pizzeria, has brought its famous thin-crust pies to the East Village, and it has quickly become a favorite for both die-hard pizza connoisseurs and casual diners. The restaurant, with its "perfectly vintage" and "old-school vibe," offers a taste of history and a slice of something truly special. What sets it apart is its signature "cracker-thin" crust, a style that has earned it a loyal following and a reputation as one of the best pizzerias in the city. The place is more than just a pizza joint; it's a full-service Italian restaurant with a diverse menu, a cozy atmosphere, and a history that dates back to 1960. This article will delve into what makes Joe & Pat's NYC a quintessential New York dining experience, from its iconic pizza to its welcoming ambiance and extensive menu options.
The pizza at Joe & Pat's is the main event, and for good reason. The "ultra-thin-crust" is the hallmark of their pies, with a crispy texture that one reviewer noted could "give you a paper cut if you ain't careful." This unique crust provides the perfect foundation for their high-quality, fresh ingredients. The cheese, a fresh mozzarella that remains in distinct "islands" rather than melting into a pool, is a key part of the experience. The sauce is also a point of pride, with reviewers calling it "tangy," "fresh," and "home-made," with a perfect balance of sweetness and acidity. While the classic cheese and "The 1960 Original" are staples, a must-try for many is the famous Vodka Pizza, a creamy, savory pie that is a beloved specialty. The restaurant also caters to modern dietary needs with options like a vegan pizza, a gluten-free pie, and a "Cauliflower Crust" pizza that one reviewer called "the best pizza I’ve ever had—period." This willingness to embrace new options while staying true to their traditional roots is a testament to their dedication to providing a great pizza for everyone. It's an "exciting hour of sit down pizza," a place where every element, from the sauce to the toppings, is carefully considered.
Beyond the pizza, Joe & Pat's NYC offers a full Italian menu that is just as impressive. The selection of appetizers is extensive, featuring classic Italian-American favorites like Fried Calamari, Mozzarella Sticks, and Garlic Bread, along with more traditional offerings like Fried Ravioli and Beef Braciole. The main courses include a variety of pasta dishes, such as their popular Penne Vodka and Nonna's Lasagna, as well as a selection of "Mains" like Chicken Parmigiano, Eggplant Rollatini, and Grilled Branzino. The menu also offers a selection of heroes and paninis, salads, and sides, ensuring there is something to satisfy every craving. The bar, with its "large rounded bar with plenty of stools," is a central feature of the space, offering a wide selection of alcohol, beer, cocktails, and wine. The "friendly helpful staff" and "fast service" ensure that the dining experience is always pleasant, whether you are stopping in for a quick bite or a full, leisurely dinner. This combination of a high-quality menu and attentive service makes Joe & Pat's a go-to spot for any occasion.
The atmosphere at Joe & Pat's is a blend of old-school charm and modern trendiness. The decor, including "authentic stained glass," gives the place a "perfectly vintage" feel that is both comfortable and stylish. The "cozy" and "casual" setting is perfect for groups, families, and solo diners alike. While the music can be "extremely loud" at times, it contributes to the lively and vibrant energy of the space. The restaurant is family-friendly and good for kids, making it a great option for a night out with the whole family. The welcoming vibe is also a draw for tourists and locals alike, as it feels like an authentic New York experience. The fact that they accept reservations is a convenient feature, especially on a busy weekend night, as it can get crowded. Joe & Pat's is the kind of place that feels like it has always been a part of the neighborhood, a solid and reliable choice for a great meal and a fun atmosphere. Its ability to maintain its classic charm while adapting to the needs of its modern clientele is a key part of its appeal.
In essence, Joe & Pat's NYC is a masterclass in Italian-American dining. It takes a classic concept—the neighborhood pizza place—and elevates it with a commitment to quality, tradition, and customer satisfaction. The thin, crispy crust is truly a unique and delicious experience that lives up to its legendary reputation. But the restaurant is so much more than its famous pizza; it is a full-fledged culinary destination offering a wide variety of dishes, from classic appetizers to hearty entrees and pastas. Its cozy, old-school atmosphere, combined with fast and friendly service, creates a dining experience that feels both special and comfortably familiar. For anyone in New York looking for a fantastic meal, whether it's a quick slice, a family dinner, or a night out with friends, Joe & Pat's NYC offers a perfect blend of tradition and quality that is hard to beat. It's a place that leaves a lasting impression, making you want to return again and again to savor everything it has to offer.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1This is the best pizza I’ve ever had—period. I said it!! I had to go twice this week just to be sure of what I’m saying! And let me officially let the cat out of the bag—I only order the Cauliflower Crust!! If you’ve read any of my other reviews then you know I’m the last guy who would ever even try that kind of crust—I’m a purist!! (I thought) I also ordered the traditional with the regular thin crispy crust because ihad to compare—and there is no contest—the cauliflower crust is the only way to go!! It’s crispy, tasty—and you’d never know!I’m on a flight back home to LA wondering when I’ll get it again! And make no mistake, it ‘aint just the crust, the cheese, the ‘adult-style’ Italian-spiced red sauce, the perfectly cooked veggie toppings—it all makes this place an exciting hour of sit down pizza! The obligatory pizza-house salad with iceberg lettuce, marinated red-peppers, cucumber, Black olives and traditional red-wine vinegar dressing is a 10!I also had sausage and green peppers which was exceptionally good. I look forward to going back and trying the pasta! The place is perfectly vintage with a great old-school vibe, comfortable wooden tables and chairs, a large rounded bar with plenty of stools and a friendly helpful staff. This is solid and I can’t recommend it highly enough! Clearly my favorite new NYC restaurant!
August 18 · Robert MaronWe were very hungry and went here on a Saturday night a little after peak hour. A lot of tables opened at 9pm. The decor is nice. The music is extremely loud. The air conditioning is pretty even but it’s hotter towards the kitchen. We got the pizza royal. It’s supposed to have pepperoni, sausage, meatballs, mushrooms, and peppers but I think the meatballs were left out. We saw steel wool plugging in the bathrooms.
June 08 · Jaye Aster BroderCrispy. Great sauce. Perfect amount of cheese. Very thin. Maybe a little too thin. I ordered it well done. It’s $33 and it was ready for take out in 15 minutes. Delicious, but pricey.
June 01 · Michelle HillI moved out of the east village like four years ago, and am happy to report their pizza is better than ever. Their plain pie is absolutely incredible
May 19 · Samantha MautnerNice vibe and good solid thin crust pizza that’s nice and crispy. We got a tri-pie and thought I wish there was a bit more cheese in the mix, the flavor combination of the pesto and vodka sauce was excellent. I’d come back to try some of their pies
