★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1This is a good no frills bar. The bartender acknowledged me quickly and took my order, we got exactly what was wanted, two beers and two shots. We took a seat around the pool table and watched some games while we chatted. It has a laid back casual vibe and everyone seemed to be having a good time. I would have liked to play a game, but the list was long. Maybe next time.
August 03 · Matthew JunellI came to this bar with friends to play some pool. Needless to say, it definitely was the last time I went because the atmosphere was not friendly toward hispanic or black individuals. I did not feel welcomed by the bartender, a blonde girl, who gave my girlfriend crazy attitude when she asked for a bud light, but simultaneously smiling when white customers requested drinks.I also found that when you call them on their behavior, they simply try to cut you off or kick you out. The community around there definitely closes rank if you are an outsider; I was surprised that the white hoods and the burning crosses didn't come out in the process of them trying to get me out. The bouncer, an unassuming gentleman by the door, tried to kick me out for calling out an asian guy who was cheating by the pool table when he thought he could get a continuation shot after hitting the balls by mistake on the table with his cue. He did not get that continuation shot because I refused to allow it. The regulars could be heard saying "APA" with as stern a face as an old man taking a shit in a porta potty, but Im not sure they understand what it means. I refused to leave and was able to finish the game, but it seemed like a lot especially when the regulars and bartender fought tooth and nail to remove me from the bar when I brought up a valid concern. He was cheating! If you are a person of color and you choose to come to this bar, I recommend you come with witnesses and/or a camera to record your experience. I feel as though many of the people who come to this bar and the workers are closeted racists who pretend to be allies by day, but can care less at night when no one is watching them. Also, make sure to keep in mind that the white people in this area fully understand that their victimhood is the highest priority to the bouncer and the police in the area, so your reasonable tone might still be met with an arrest or being kicked out. As unjust as this is, simply walk away and never return. GET OUT!
April 20 · AlexNegative 100 stars - most hostile place in alphabet cityThis was the first—and absolutely the last—time we will ever set foot in this establishment. The bartender was not only shockingly rude, but also painfully slow and inattentive. We were reprimanded for simply taking photos of ourselves and the ambiance as if this bar were some exclusive, high-security venue. Read the room, everyone was happy no wascomplaining.Let’s be clear—taking photos in a bar is not against any New York City, state, or federal law. So unless this bar considers itself above the law, the hostility was entirely unwarranted. What’s even more absurd is the flood of photos on this bar’s own Google Reviews. Were all of those patrons thrown out too?In our case, the bartender called security to remove us—despite the fact that we remained completely calm, quiet, and non-aggressive throughout. In 16 years of living in New York, I have never encountered service this unprofessional or disrespectful.Do yourself a favor and avoid this place entirely. There are countless better bars in this city that will treat you like a human being.
May 24 · Zhu WangOld man pouring drinks stared at my boyfriend and I then began to curse us out , tell us we had nice fake IDS after serving us “proper” , and recommended we finish our drinks fast as he seems to enjoy telling customers to get out. There was nothing we had done wrong and if you are easily traumatized, don’t go here. Man had zero business acting so distasteful at his “proper pub” , nauseating experience. Also if you don’t leave a generous tip for bad service , expect a temper tantrum.
June 12 · AnaThis place is terrible, I’d give it no stars if I could. God forbid anyone asks for a water even after buying drinks, you’ll get shouted out by the bartender. Really wanted to like it here because I’ve enjoyed it other times, but this was so odd, no one did anything to deserve this behavior. Wishing them the worst
