Joya offers an impressive menu of authentic Thai cuisine, and while the entire offering is worthwhile, there are several dishes and categories that consistently receive high praise and are considered signature items that new patrons should explore. The combination of classic noodle dishes, rich curries, and unique appetizers is what keeps locals returning for over a decade.
For noodle lovers, the top choices are the Pad Thai ($13.95) and the Pad See Yue ($14.95). The Pad Thai is the quintessential Thai experience, while the Pad See Yue, made with broad rice noodles and Chinese broccoli in a sweet brown sauce, is often cited by regulars as their favorite due to its perfect blend and texture. For those who crave heat, the Spicy Noodles ($14.95) are renowned for truly delivering on their promise of spice, incorporating fresh flat noodles in a chili basil sauce.
When it comes to the curries, you cannot go wrong with the classics. The Green Curry ($15.50), Red Curry ($15.50), and the slightly milder, nutty Masaman Curry ($14.95) are all highly rated for their rich, flavorful coconut-milk-based sauces and fresh vegetables. If you're a fan of soup, the Tom Ka ($7.25), a creamy coconut soup, is a standout, with one customer even calling it an all-time top-five soup.
The appetizers are also not to be missed. The Joya Thai Mussels ($15.95) in a spicy Thai basil sauce, the Fried Calamari ($14.95) with its perfect dipping sauce, and the delicious Thai Spare Ribs (Small $8.95 / Large $14.95) all come highly recommended. The Fried Spring Rolls ($6.50) are a reliable favorite. For those seeking lighter options, the Mango Gai Yang ($16.95), a grilled chicken half served with a fresh mango salad and sticky rice, provides a beautiful balance of flavors and is a great unique special.
Ultimately, what makes Joya worth choosing is the combination of authentic, well-portioned, and affordable Thai food served in a charming, casual-yet-sophisticated environment. It's the perfect neighborhood gem for a relaxed weeknight dinner, a lunch special, or a casual weekend date in Brooklyn.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I've been here sporadically throughout the years. Same tasty food, same ambiance, just an increase in prices (most likely due to inflation). This is definitely a hit and you'll be happy you are here. We ordered their mussels which is very delicious, calamari paired with their dipping sauce was also delicious, and their wide noodles (pad see yue) with beef. You can never go wrong with that order. They also serve $8 drinks: Margaritas, wine, and cocktails during happy hour. It's been a real pleasure Joya
June 20 · g0rgjasIt was a gorgeous day so we decided to have lunch in the outdoor area behind the restaurant. We started with crab bites which I really enjoyed. For our mains I went shrimp pad kee mao & my sister went with a chicken dish with vegetables & white rice on the side. We both enjoyed our mains. I also decided to try one of their signature cocktails: the Joya rockstar. It looked tastier in photo. All in all a pretty good meal, that wasn’t too expensive on a quiet Sunday afternoon.
September 01 · J B CWhat an great spot! This place has hands down the Best Thai food in NYC. I’ve been coming to Joya for over 14 years now, and this place never disappoints. All the food is so flavorful, and the classic Thai dishes are still my favorite, and I’ve been to Hundreds of Thai spots. The pad se Yoo is my favorite, with a perfect blend of soft flat noodles and bean sauce. All the curries are absolutely delicious, and the spare ribs and all the appetizers are still the best. Plus, our server Charlie was absolutely great, so attentive and very friendly and was quick and reliable. I absolutely LOVE this spot in beautiful cobble hill, Brooklyn.
May 26 · aanunez2280Maybe you’ve seen some of the negative reviews recently, Joya had been a wonderful restaurant I’ve been eating at for 20 years, but something changed. We went last night and I’m happy to report they fixed whatever it was, and the peanut sauce in the chicken Pad Thai is as magical as it ever was. The staff knows us and what we order as regulars and are very friendly. The atmosphere is relaxing, inside and out. They’ve recently added a happy hour and some meal deals such as a 2 noodle dishes for the price of 1 (I think). I did not want to believe that Joya had gone south, but it’s good to know that the restaurant we’ve loved is as good as ever.
