What is worth choosing
Las Brisas Restaurant stands out in the bustling New York dining landscape for its authentic approach and deep-rooted history in the Port Chester community. For any local or visitor searching for truly traditional Mexican cuisine, this restaurant offers compelling reasons to choose it for your next meal.
First and foremost, the culinary offerings set Las Brisas apart. The emphasis on home-style cooking translates into dishes that are rich in flavor and authenticity. The legendary Poblano-style burritos are a must-try. Unlike the massive, all-in-one burritos found in many other restaurants, the Poblano style is a more focused, traditional experience—smaller, typically two served per order, with a single, uncompromised filling. This approach allows the quality of the ingredients, such as the refried beans or seasoned chicken, to truly shine through.
The chilaquiles at Las Brisas are another dish that has achieved local fame. Customers who have tried this dish across countless restaurants often return to Las Brisas, citing its unique and superior preparation. By mixing the tortillas directly with eggs and a flavorful sauce (either Verdes or Rojas) before baking, the dish achieves a perfect moist-yet-crispy texture that is often missing from other versions. Ordering them "crujiente" (crispy) is a highly recommended insider tip to get those satisfying crunchy edges. This dedication to a superior, time-tested cooking method is a testament to the kitchen's commitment to quality.
Beyond the standouts, the general menu offers incredible value and variety. The lunch menu is highly accessible, featuring staples like Tacos for around $3.00, Burritos for about $8.00, and larger plates like Enchiladas and Quesadillas for roughly $10.50. Entrees, all served with rice and beans or a salad and rice, feature classics like Mole Poblano, various Bistec (steak) preparations, and comforting stews like Carne Guisada, all hovering around the affordable $10.50 to $11.50 price point.
The overall atmosphere of Las Brisas is another key factor in its enduring popularity. It has a casual and cozy vibe, perfect for a relaxed dining experience. It's the kind of place where locals feel comfortable bringing their families and groups, or simply enjoying a quick, solo meal. The fact that the restaurant has been operated by the same family for so long speaks volumes about its character, consistency, and genuine hospitality. Long-time customers appreciate that they are still welcomed by the same friendly faces and that the food taste remains exactly as they remember it from childhood.
In a world of rapidly changing restaurant concepts, Las Brisas Restaurant offers a comforting anchor of tradition and flavor. Its focus on time-honored dishes like the Poblano burrito and unique chilaquiles, coupled with its fast, friendly service and affordable pricing, make it an exceptional choice for anyone in the New York region seeking an authentic and memorable Mexican dining experience in Port Chester.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Used to come here as a kid and going back brought many memories. Tortas were bomb like always. Since it’s small, whenever someone would walk in we would feel the cold air coming in. But other than that loved the tortas
January 30 · Angi TBeen coming here since attending SUNY Purchase in the late 80s, then living with my band The Pineapples in Port Chester in the early 90s. I used to eat here at least five times/week, and would do the same if I still lived close by. It's exactly the same, still run by the same family. A little dumpy, but who cares? It's got character for days.Everything is good, including the house-made salsa picante and black beans and rice: great flavor. The burritos are standout: they're made in the rarely-seen traditional Poblano way, small (two per order), with a single filling, not the overstuffed Mission style that everyone seems to do. My faves are chicken and bean (they use refried beans for filling). The magic really happens with their chilaquiles. They can be ordered Verdes or Rojas; rojos (red sauce) is my preference. I order this dish in every Mexican restaurant I go to, and no one does it like here: where everyone else does them in a very wet, vinegar-heavy sauce with no eggs used in the prep, Las Brisas mixes the tortillas in eggs and sauce (if there's vinegar can't taste it), cooks them in a pan, then tops with cheese and melts it under a broiler. They're exactly the right amount of moist, with crispy edges poking out around the edges (I order them crujiente: crispy). I love them so much, order them every time I go back. Definitely try them!
August 14 · howard rappaportbeen a while, But this place has the most authentic mexican food That I have ever eaten. I mean you gotta eat most of it with a fork and knife, and I dont know what or how they make that hot sauce, but its the best. I wish I knew the recipe.
July 30 · Nicholas “Nick Armz” MmThe owner has nasty attitude . And the food all the time taste different.. don’t eat here don’t waste your money , bad food plus bad attitude , Costumer is always right thanks to us your business is running ..
September 18 · Palacios PalaciosBest tacos I’ve had in NY. Full of rich seasoned meat. The burrito is small but very very delicious. Best of all the prices are incredible and fair! Anytime I have a craving for tacos I know where to go☝🏾
