Las Palmas Bakery Introduce
In New York City, a bakery is more than just a place to buy bread; it’s a pillar of the community, a source of comfort, and a provider of both daily essentials and celebratory treats. For decades, bakeries have served as gathering spots and culinary havens, each with its own unique flavor and heritage. In the Bronx, a borough celebrated for its rich cultural tapestry, a bakery often reflects the diverse communities it serves. Las Palmas Bakery, situated on Jerome Avenue, is a testament to this tradition, offering a wide array of baked goods and a menu that extends far beyond the typical pastry case, providing everything from breakfast to full meals.
The Jerome Avenue corridor in the Bronx, where Las Palmas Bakery is located, is a bustling and dynamic area. It is a major thoroughfare that connects multiple neighborhoods, serving as a lifeline for residents and local businesses. The neighborhood is a melting pot of cultures, with a large and vibrant Hispanic and Latino population. According to U.S. Census data, the Bronx has the highest concentration of Hispanic residents in New York City, and this demographic is heavily reflected in the local businesses. Las Palmas Bakery embodies this cultural identity by offering a fusion of classic bakery staples and traditional Spanish and Latin cuisine, making it a familiar and beloved spot for many in the community.

What is worth choosing?
Las Palmas Bakery is a destination for those seeking a true taste of the Bronx. Its long history and family-oriented feel, as noted by a long-time customer who has been getting birthday cakes there for over 30 years, speak volumes about its role in the community. What makes Las Palmas particularly worth choosing is its ability to be both a classic bakery and a reliable spot for a full meal. The custom cakes are a major draw, with one customer noting that they are "fresh," "made to order," and can be customized in terms of sweetness and design. The inclusion of real, edible elements in the designs shows a high level of craftsmanship and attention to detail.
Beyond the cakes, the menu's breadth is a key selling point. Whether you are in the mood for a quick dessert like a Pineapple Turnover or a full meal like a Cuban Sandwich or a plate of Mangu, Las Palmas has it covered. The availability of traditional Latin dishes, from Mofonguitos to Tostones, provides a taste of authentic cuisine that is a hallmark of the Bronx. The fact that they accept SNAP/EBT payments is an invaluable service that makes them a more accessible and inclusive business for the local community. While one review mentioned concerns about customer service and hygiene, the positive feedback about the quality and freshness of the cakes, as well as the long-standing patronage of many customers, suggests that for many, the quality of the products and the sense of tradition are what truly stand out.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Avoid. As a local, this used to be my go to bakery growing up. Nowadays, it's become a shell of what it used to be. It shouldn't take a manager to be on-site to provide decent customer service or food.Nobody who is preparing the food is wearing a hair net, which has resulted in hair in my coffee and me reporting this. Their prices are nowhere to be seen, which allows them to charge whatever they feel like, and depending on who is checking you out at the register. Attitude is all over the place. You're better off supporting another local bakery or deli, as you'd receive better service and food elsewhere.
August 25 · bbunsgyozaLas Palmas Bakery is always a delight. I have gotten my birthday cakes there since i was a young buck. More than 30 years now. Their cakes are fresh. Made to order and the sky is the limit with their designs without the unreasonable prices. Im at a stage now where i hate overly sweet cakes. Although they can make a cake sweet, they can adjust the sweetnes on the frosting so that one don't have to set the frosting aside. Instead i can eat the whole slice. The staff are super nice, I recommend. Below are some examples of the cake designs I've enjoyed. The Invicta Cake was all my girls idea. Yes thats a real watch (desk clock) on the cake.PS. They do catering and make some delicious spanish cuisine.
July 09 · ALEX BROOKSI love this bakery! Their cakes are amazing! My family has been getting their birthday cakes from here every year for as long as I can remember. The person who decorates their cakes does amazing! They are always busy so it can get a little hectic sometimes. But their desserts are always fresh and delicious. My go-to is their tres leches! The only spot in the Bronx that I get my tres leche slice from.Edit: 7/22/25, I have to come here and comment that after all these years, I've run into several disappointments this year. The staff here have been rude, less compassionate, and careless. They act neat and great when the owner/manager is around, but as soon as he leaves, they give a nasty attitude. Their cakes are great, don't get me wrong, but the staff need training, and if they no longer like working there, perhaps they should consider leaving. This place is great, but the staff is terrible. They overcharge. When I asked the price for something I over heard the lady tell the person "100$, but tell her $110 for the tip" the other day i sent my mom to get a cake, Owner or supervisor was there said give them 10 min it'll be ready, when the owner left my mom had 20 mins or more waiting and when she asked for an update the decorator gave attitude and said "Tell her I said 10 more minutes." There's no need for all the nasty attitude. Please work on your customer service.
July 22 · Milendy RodriguezThank you so much for creating my wedding cake. I’ve been to this bakery for over 20 years.- A proud local
March 24 · W RI always order my cakes here for 5 years now . They are fresh and absolutely delicious! I was really worried when I ordered my wedding cake. I told them what color I wanted and flavors ect. They not only made my dream come to life, they delivered our cake before time with care. Guests were more than satisfied! They wanted to know where the cake came from. (It could be easier if the had someone who speaks fluent English). Keep up the great work!
