May 08 · Courtney Petrie-RodriguezCame for the famous chocolates, will return for the service.Tamara & Patricia were chocolatier experts, allowing me to sample, helping me choose my custom order of chocolates, as well as packing my gluten-free items separate. Tamara was especially helpful and even supplied a pen & pad to keep track of all the delectable and delicious items to be found here. The customer experience was remarkable and it's friendly staff like this that will always keep people coming back for more.Tell them I said hi if you stop by. :)
April 02 · Eric NievesStopped in for a gift and am so glad I did! Pearl is a delight and very helpful. The shop is beautiful and smells like the inside of a chocolate bar. Such a delight.
January 13 · Charli NorthThe longest standing chocolate shop in Manhattan!Loved my visit here in June 2023. They have a wide range of chocolate options (single chcoolates, dark and milk, gift chocoloates for presents, etc) and you can even buy just a couple of pieces to try at first. But everything is artisanal and handmade and perfectly sweet. They have a couple of other locations as well.
January 06 · LeonardApril 2023: I had a few of the 72% cocoa vegan dairy free dark chocolate (break up) chunks, a good value but not as easy to eat as the same 72% cocoa drops or bars, at the west village shop on Greenwich Ave just west of 7th Ave just north of 11th st. The chocolate has a distinct homemade, rich flavor, a bit bitter and healthier at the highest 72% percent cocoa they offer. The other non-vegan chocolate is only as high as about 53% cocoa. The chocolate is all handmade in the Brooklyn Lilac factory. I was able to conveniently take home the dark chocolate in my own stainless steel container without any packaging.- 4/17/2023, Monday: Selections including the solid 2.5oz dark chocolate Easter bunny place setting ~53% cocoa (1/2 off starting today post Easter holidays including post Eastern Orthodox Easter holiday), about $29/lb while the 1lb bunny is just $17/lb on sale, among the best deals this post-Easter week. I also sampled the popular 53% cocoa dark chocolate almond bark, and the larger piece of 72% cocoa vegan dark chocolate almond bark (about 42/lb). The almond bark is about 5g sugar / ounce, (among healthiest options) while the regular and vegan dark chocolate is about 12g sugar per ounce. The last selection is of the raspberry ganache dark chocolate truffle, which appears milk chocolate on the outside, but is dark on the inside, and was voted best raspberry truffle in the tri-state area. It was quite good, but $2.40 for a small truffle, but worth it at least once, and other raspberry creams are larger and more reasonable in price.- Most of the chocolate ingredients have soy lecithin which is common with even famous brands such as French Valrhona and Belgian Godiva unless you are buying local Raaka craft chocolate or specialized organic chocolate which is expensive and may be only available in hard chocolate bars, and not as creamy or soft as in this local chocolate shop where there is a huge variety of chocolate even outside the holidays and delicious.
