★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1April 5, 2025 -- We accidentally stumbled upon this place on our way from 7th Ave to Bryant Park, and instinctively entered it to a very welcoming aroma of warm South Indian tiffin. We got to know it's newly opened. The food tastes very close to what one would get in a normal restaurant in and around Chennai. We ate the following:1. Plain dosa : It was crispy, wish it was thicker. The accompanying sambar is very tasty and authentic. All the chutneys (coconut, ginger, and for additional $2, peanut) were delicious.2. Idly : As the dosa wasn't enough, I had their hot fluffy idly, which was much more filling.3. Vada Pav: Took a bite of it, didn't form much of an opinion about it, felt normal. The prices are (may be 10% more than) reasonable, service is good, a very nice place to eat around Times Square.
April 20 · Ramakrishnan KMadras Dosa Co. in Times Square offers an exceptional South Indian dining experience, blending authenticity with a warm, inviting ambiance. The moment you step in, the friendly staff welcomes you with a smile, setting the tone for an enjoyable meal. The seating arrangement, particularly by the large window overlooking the bustling streets of New York, adds a unique charm, allowing diners to savor their meal while watching the city’s vibrant energy unfold. The menu features an impressive selection of South Indian classics, from crispy dosas and soft idlis to flavorful vadas and uttapams, ensuring that both first-time visitors and seasoned South Indian cuisine lovers find something to enjoy.Among the standout dishes, the Pav Bhaji deserves special mention. The bhaji was perfectly spiced, with a rich, buttery texture that paired beautifully with the soft, toasted pav. The balance of tangy, savory, and slightly sweet flavors made each bite truly delightful. The Karam Neyi Dosa was another highlight, complemented by a flavorful palli chutney, aromatic sambar, and a sweet chutney that added depth to every bite. Each element of the meal was carefully prepared, showcasing the attention to detail and authenticity that defines Madras Dosa Co. Whether you’re craving a nostalgic taste of home or exploring South Indian flavors for the first time, this spot delivers an experience that is both satisfying and memorable.
March 27 · Shankar PrasadWanted to have masala dosa badly and found this place close to the hotel we staying at. The place is new and very clean. Staff is friendly. Limited seating but service is fast. Made fresh. We got masala dosa, pav bhaji and pani puri with filter coffee. All were sooo good. Good spice level. The kids enjoyed it as well. Definitely recommend this place to anyone.
July 15 · TinzWhat works: fresh interiors, easy ordering, clean place, and ultra quick service. What doesn't work: the way food is served. Probably works really well as a to-go service, in which case, it's a 4 star. But to sit down, pay $15 for a masala dosa, and not get sambar, and chutney's in a steel plate takes away that authenticity from a "South Indian" restaurant. Yeah I am sure poeple will say it's not just South Indian food, but the name of the place wants you to stick to that cuisine.Ordered Vada ($12), which was okay-ish and couldn't really enjoy dipping it in my plastic container of sambar. The tamarind chutney was absolute banger though. Keema Pav ($16) lacked that masala kick to it, while the Pani Puri's ($12) did manage to hit the spot.Friendly staff, noise levels on the low end, and a reasonably priced menu will bring us again to try their Bombay snacks and Canteen sandwiches on our next visit for sure!
March 22 · Ameya BhakayI stopped by hoping for a quick bite, but this is not your typical fast food joint. The dosas here take time, and they’re not shy on price—expect to spend upwards of $18. That said, the experience is worth it. Watching the dosa being made fresh on the hot griddle is like a culinary performance, and the crowd—especially the number of Indian patrons—speaks to its authenticity.I had the lamb pesarattu dosa, beautifully packed in a sleek takeout box with three sauces. The dosa was crisp, flavorful, and deeply satisfying—worth every penny. The space is vibrant, with a leafy ceiling and Indian music videos playing on loop, giving it a warm, lively feel.If you’re in Times Square and craving real South Indian flavor, come hungry and be ready to wait a bit—it’s worth it.
