★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Absolutely loved it. What an extraordinary experience. The space is beautiful, the service is exceptional, and the food is not only delicious and inventive but gorgeously presented. We cannot wait for the chef’s tasting program to start and to come back and try the gorgeous bar and bar snacks.
September 19 · Farah MaloofMusaafer is exceptional. After having numerous wonderful experiences at their Houston location, I was so excited to go to the New York location. It did not disappoint. The food was incredibly flavorful and delicious. The spice blends and techniques drew inspiration from numerous different parts of India, which were presented in an elevated fashion. In addition, the amazing decor, ambiance and service made for an unforgettable evening. The incredible decor—truly amongst the best in New York City—stands out. Dining there (especially in the Shish Mahal) feels like dining in a Mughal palace. For lovers of lamb, there’s no better restaurant. The biryani lamb chop and rizala kofta were stellar. But the nihari birria tacos blew me away. Vegetarians can also enjoy the whole menu (the dal muradabhadi was insane) and they make it really simple to see which dishes can be made vegan or gluten free.Special thanks go to Musaafer’s executive chef, Mayank Istwal, who brings a story and history to the foods, spices and techniques at Musaafer that transform it from mere food to an experience in the truest sense of the word. He did it once in Houston—and has again caught lightning in a bottle here in NYC. I cannot wait to go again.
August 28 · Nish BhanOutstanding Indian food in a stunning setting. The food and the ambiance cross period by taking classics from Indian cuisines and design, and modernizing them, even taking them one step further with over the top styling. But that wouldn't matter to me if the the food wasn't delicious, and it is. Cooked to perfection, presented like works out art. The fish was so tender and juicy! The waters were great, shared some of the history of the dishes and gave good recommendations based on our taste. Even better, they suggested a very accurate amount of food.
August 29 · Javier KohenThe food at Musaafer captures the full soul of Indian food with unbelievable elegance and refinement. And the decor made us forget about life outside. Truly fantastic dining experience. Our favorite dish was the black onion and there were no wrong choices on the menu.
September 11 · Bharat NainAbsolutely incredible Indian restaurant. The dishes were both innovative and thoughtful, and we even got to hear the chef share the story behind his inspirations. I especially loved how he fused Mexican and Indian flavors to create birria tacos with a unique Indian twist. The desserts were just as inventive, adding a playful and creative finish to the meal. It’s definitely worth visiting at least once for the experience. The only downside is the high price point—but it’s understandable given the level of detail, creativity, and care that goes into each dish. Overall, a memorable spot I’d recommend trying for the experience.
