Ni Japanese Deli Introduce
Tucked away inside the historic Essex Market on the Lower East Side, Ni Japanese Deli is a true hidden gem for those seeking healthy and authentic Japanese food. This family-run deli is a refreshing departure from the conventional Japanese restaurant, focusing instead on a curated menu of nourishing and wholesome dishes. It's a place where the concepts and flavors of Japanese cuisine are combined with a health-conscious, macrobiotic approach, using organic and all-natural ingredients whenever possible. The atmosphere is casual, embodying the vibrant, communal feel of the market itself. It's a popular spot for lunch and dinner, drawing a crowd of both locals and tourists who appreciate its dedication to clean, flavorful food. Ni Japanese Deli proves that a quick bite can also be a healthy and satisfying one, offering a welcome alternative to the more traditional fare found in the neighborhood.
At Ni Japanese Deli, the menu is built around fresh ingredients and traditional preparations. You'll find a variety of bento boxes, featuring options like Salmon Bento and a popular Vegan Bento Box, which are perfect for a full meal. Their selection of donburi (rice bowls), noodles, and brown rice sushi rolls also showcases a commitment to quality and health. It's an ideal spot for solo diners looking for a delicious and nutritious meal without the formality of a sit-down restaurant. In addition to prepared food, the deli offers a small but thoughtfully chosen selection of Japanese groceries and condiments, including unpasteurized miso and high-quality rice. This dual purpose—serving as both a restaurant and a specialty grocer—makes Ni Japanese Deli a valuable resource for anyone in New York who is passionate about Japanese cuisine and a healthy lifestyle.

Ni Japanese Deli Reviews

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Awful. Absolutely awful. The portion was so laughably small. My photo shows the exact amount I received. I thought someone had eaten half of it when I opened it. $18 !!Sure, if they skimped on the tuna it would be more understandable. But they gave me like two spoonfuls of brown rice and a few pieces of greens, which are just standard ingredients. There’s nothing else, either: just rice, avocado, tuna, and a bit of nori and sesame. No sauce. No flavor.I complained to the guy who served me and he just smirked, shrugged and said “That’s what we do.” It was such a blatant rip-off that it was comical.
November 29 · Duv LassI ordered the vegan curry noodle and it was so bland and thin, absolutely not worth the price ($19 with tax). The stand looks authentic but doesn’t deliver on flavor at all. I recommend going to the Italian restaurant next to it instead.
January 09 · Karishma DagaIncredible food! I miss the medium sized snack/meals you can pick up in train stations or road-side in Japan. These are a perfect fix. Super fresh and light. Great vegan options and great price.
May 01 · Katjia CallicoatDelicious, tasty, fresh, healthy - everything I love and prioritize for food! It was a bit expensive for what it is, but the salmon bento brought me so much joy! The kabocha side dish was also really tasty. The food felt like a home cooked meal and was the perfect portion size for one, with extra pumpkin to last a few meals. Miso soup was good but not memorable
October 30 · Jenn SoongBeen there a few times, food is usually decent if overpriced (6.5 for small onigiri!) but today the sushi rice was hard like uncooked or leftover. The man is not particularly friendly & the 50 cent card charge seems silly.
