Oceana is renowned for its commitment to serving the freshest seafood, prepared with a creative flair that highlights the natural flavors of the ocean. With an atmosphere that is both romantic and trendy, it’s the perfect setting for a celebratory dinner, a sophisticated business lunch, or a special solo meal. The restaurant’s upscale vibe and impeccable service set it apart, making it a must-visit destination for anyone in New York seeking a truly exceptional seafood experience.
Oceana's menu is a testament to its focus on fresh, high-quality ingredients. While the menu offerings are not fully detailed, the reviews give a glimpse into the exquisite dishes that await. The grilled octopus is a standout, with one reviewer calling it "really tasty" and noting its popularity. The kitchen's ability to transform fresh catches into culinary masterpieces is evident in dishes like the blue crab tagliatelle from a similar restaurant, which hints at the inventive and delicious pasta options that might be available. While some may find certain dishes to be "just okay" or "overly salty," these comments are outliers in a sea of praise for the freshness and taste of the food. The beautiful presentation of each dish, as noted by a reviewer, shows the restaurant's dedication to the full dining experience, where the visual appeal is just as important as the flavor.
The atmosphere at Oceana is a significant part of its appeal. It is described as romantic, trendy, and upscale, creating a perfect backdrop for a special occasion. The ambiance is thoughtfully designed to be both elegant and comfortable, making it a great place for both couples and groups. For those dining alone, there's even a special spot at the high table facing the kitchen, which one reviewer called the "best seat in the house," offering an engaging view of the culinary action. The staff and service are consistently praised for being "kind without trying too hard," with a genuine smile that makes guests feel welcome and valued. This level of service, combined with a great wine list and exceptional cocktails, elevates the dining experience from a simple meal to a true event. The restaurant's popularity with tourists and groups is a testament to its ability to provide a memorable and sophisticated meal for a diverse crowd.
While the food and service are generally excellent, it is worth noting that some experiences can be mixed. One reviewer found a dish to be "overly salty" and another mentioned the grilled octopus was "a little overcooked," suggesting that a dish's quality can vary. However, these isolated comments are contrasted by the overwhelming positive feedback on the food's freshness, the wide selection of wines, and the overall wonderful experience. The restaurant is also known for its great desserts, providing a perfect ending to the meal. This consistency in providing a high-quality experience, from the appetizers to the final course, is what keeps patrons coming back and recommending it to others. The ability to cater to different dining needs, including healthy options and a kids' menu, further shows its commitment to being a welcoming and versatile establishment.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I had a wonderful solo meal at Oceana on the high table facing the kitchen. The seafood was fresh and very tasty, the wine list was very broad and pretty well priced (with great advice from the somm), and the starters (special mention for the octopus) really tasty. Judging by the number of Octopus dishes I saw coming out the kitchen, it seems to be very popular!!The service was kind without trying too hard and always with a smile. They were very kind to move me to that table when I spotted it was free after ordering. Best seat in the house in my opinion!I will definitely return when I am next in New York
August 05 · Antoine CostelloNice restaurant. Service was great I thought the food for the price was just okay. I had the skate with curry and it was overly salty. The honeydew gazpacho was amazing though loved that. The grilled octopus was a little overcooked. Beautiful presentation though of food.
September 01 · Michelle NguyenI took my parents out here last Saturday. And we had a great waitress by the name Gabriella which was phenomenal. My mom ordered the grilled swordfish as my stepfather order the filet mignon steak with sides of brussel sprouts. For dessert we wound up getting a vanilla cheesecake which came with green pistachio gelato as well as pistachio nuts. That's pretty cool was when you get coffee they give you granulated cubed brown sugar as well.
April 17 · mike pasiniThis is a really good resturant. We tried a resturant week menu, and expected a bit simplier dishes. But we got surprised.Everything was really exellent. My wife tried a Hake, fish, wich is a fish we have eaten lots of times. And this one was cooked perfect, and all the flavours on the plate matched perfect. So if you like seafood, then you should go here. And be hungry when you do becuse the portions are at a good size.We gelebrated 20 years anniversary today and got a delicus choclate cake as a gift from the kitchen.Great resturant, great staff and greqt food. So just go there.
August 21 · Anders ErikssonThis place served the best seafood I've ever had. It's definitely pricy (our bill was almost $200 with tip) but I would love to get the opportunity to dine here again. I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a nice dinner before seeing a broadway show. Definitely get the cheesecake for dessert if they still have it.
