Olive Deli & Salad Bar Introduce
Olive Deli & Salad Bar, situated at 2032 Lexington Avenue in the vibrant neighborhood of East Harlem, is a quintessential New York City deli. It serves as a local hub for those seeking a quick and affordable meal, whether it's for breakfast, lunch, or a snack. Unlike a formal restaurant, a deli like this is built for convenience, offering a wide variety of prepared foods, sandwiches, and a staple of many New York delis: a self-service salad bar. The menu is diverse, featuring classic deli fare such as omelets, sandwiches, and platters, alongside fried foods and a fresh salad bar. This range of options, from simple bagels to more substantial platters, makes it a go-to spot for people with different cravings and budgets. The core of its appeal lies in its function as a reliable and accessible place for a quick visit, a characteristic that is highly valued in the fast-paced life of New York. The presence of a salad bar is a key feature, giving health-conscious customers a fresh and customizable alternative to standard deli sandwiches. The atmosphere is that of a no-frills, functional eatery, focused on getting customers their food efficiently so they can get on with their day. It's the kind of place that becomes a regular stop for many in the neighborhood, a familiar spot to grab a bite without a lot of fanfare.
However, customer experiences, as reflected in available reviews, are mixed. One review highlights the appeal of the salad bar but raises concerns about the professionalism and behavior of some staff members, noting that they heard them speaking about customers in Spanish, a language the reviewer also understood. This points to a potential issue with customer service and the need for management to address staff conduct. The review also mentions the importance of professional behavior, a key expectation for any business. Another review shares a more positive sentiment, praising the place as a refuge from other similar establishments where they felt like a "second-class citizen" for using EBT. This suggests that the deli has a reputation among some patrons for providing a more respectful and welcoming experience, particularly for those who may feel marginalized elsewhere. The same reviewer also expresses an appreciation for the service provided by the "Mexican amigos" who work there, highlighting their diligence and understanding. These reviews collectively suggest that while the quality of service can be inconsistent, the deli is appreciated by some for its perceived fairness and the respectful treatment of its customers, which can be a significant factor for people choosing where to spend their money. This gives potential customers a more complete and nuanced understanding of what to expect from Olive Deli & Salad Bar beyond just its menu.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I like this place because of the salad bar, and sometimes the cooks are not always that nice. I've heard them talk about me in Spanish and other people and I'm Spanish myself mixed with a lot of other nationalities. They shouldn't talk about people because you don't know who understands what. Plus that isn't professional to do that so management need to talk to their staff.
October 27 · Loyalty and LoveHere is where I go when I get tired of all the other Habibi's treating me like a second-class citizen (because I purchase with EBT!) The standards in which our Mexican amigos serve the food have to be appreciated. If I walked in on any given day, and one of the servers told me they were to tired to put together a meal... I would feel their pain, and humbly state, "tomorrows another day".
September 26 · EduardoThey're very good except when the two Mexican cooks catch attitudes then they do and say petty shyt. But overall they're pretty good.
November 01 · Gorgeous MediaThe food is good but the guys who work on the grill and make sandwiches need better communication and customer Service skills.
June 14 · Ronisha MorrisGood food good service and really fast recommend coming here
