P.C. Stand By Introduce
P.C. Stand By is a true New York area institution, specifically a beloved neighborhood fast food restaurant located right in Port Chester, NY. More than just a place for a quick meal, this establishment has cemented its status as an iconic local hot dog and hamburger stand. It’s known for serving up classic American comfort food staples with a focus on fresh ingredients and, most famously, their legendary homemade chili. For busy residents of Port Chester and neighboring Greenwich, Connecticut, P.C. Stand By is a dependable stop for a satisfying and value-conscious meal at any time of day.
Operating under the guidance of Executive Chef and Owner Kevin H. Allmashy, a 4th Generation Port Chester Native, the restaurant emphasizes consistency and quality—qualities that New York diners highly value. They seamlessly bridge the gap between a traditional fast-food model and a local deli/producer, even offering catering services. This blend of simple, quick-service food with a deep commitment to the community and long-standing tradition is what keeps it relevant in the competitive Westchester dining landscape. Customers know they can rely on P.C. Stand By for favorites like their signature Dougie Burger and affordable all-day breakfast options.
The restaurant is conveniently located at 604 N Main St, Port Chester, NY 10573. This strategic address places it near the border of Port Chester and Greenwich, making it easily accessible for customers from both communities within the greater New York metropolitan area. Its positioning on a main road ensures high visibility and simple navigation for daily commuters and local residents.
A critical advantage for this establishment, especially in a dense area like Westchester County, is the abundance of available parking. P.C. Stand By offers multiple solutions, including a free parking lot, free street parking, and general on-site parking. This amenity significantly enhances the convenience factor, allowing for quick, hassle-free visits. Furthermore, the venue is committed to accessibility, featuring both a wheelchair accessible entrance and a wheelchair accessible parking lot. The restaurant also provides Outdoor Seating, which is a major draw during pleasant weather, and welcomes dogs in its outdoor area, making it a flexible and convenient stop for various needs.

P.C. Stand By is worth choosing for New York area residents who prioritize authentic, classic American fast food that carries a strong sense of place and value. While the concept is simple—focused on hot dogs, burgers, and breakfast—the execution, particularly the famous homemade chili and the locally iconic Dougie Burger, makes it a superior alternative to national chains. The fact that an Executive Chef runs the operation and that the business has a history as a food producer suggests a higher level of attention to the quality and freshness of ingredients than is typical for the fast-food category.
The unique selling point is the blend of extreme convenience and local heart. The all-day breakfast at a compelling price point (e.g., $2.50 for an Egg on a Roll) is highly competitive and essential for the quick pace of the area. Add to this the benefit of readily available free parking and the option for outdoor dining, and P.C. Stand By provides a highly practical solution for a quick bite. It is important for prospective patrons to note the mixed reviews on customer service, with some describing it as exceptionally rude, while others praise the family-like atmosphere. For the customer whose primary focus is high-quality, time-tested comfort food—like an amazing burger patty melt or chili-smothered steak and cheese sandwich—at a great value with easy access, P.C. Stand By remains a long-standing and well-loved fixture in the Port Chester and Greenwich border area.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I’ve never encountered service quite like this. The cashier is miserable, rude, and downright mean. Absolutely ridiculous of an attitude. It felt like a burden just to place an order. Customer service matters, especially in a small neighborhood spot like this. A little courtesy goes a long way, and sadly, that was completely absent. I’d love to support a local business, but not if I’m made to feel unwelcome every time I walk through the door. There are plenty of places nearby offering similar products with farrrrr better service. Until there’s a serious change in attitude here, I won’t be returning—and I wouldn’t recommend it to others who value being treated with even basic decency.
April 30 · concierge ptThis place has been good for a long time. Consistency and welcoming is rare nowadays but the people at Stand By are brining this and good food! Feels like you are family when you order & are hanging out in their backyard. Port Chester & Greenwich boarder + easy convenient free parking + amazing burger patty melt.
April 21 · David CedroneThe nice lady at the front always gives us good quality food at an affordable price. Very nice people and food. Highly recommend.
June 11 · Gabriel LubinerFood is always good, but woman working there who is possibly the owner always seems to be in a rush to get customers to leave by turning off lights on drink fridge, putting up chairs before food is even ready. It's like her way of saying we want to close. This has happened on more than one occasion, which is why I don't frequent it as much as in the past.
April 14 · Loryn HollmanThe customer service was absolutely terrible. If I could give zero stars, I would. During my visit, the owner or cashier was yelling aggressively at a customer, which was extremely unprofessional and uncomfortable to witness. Based on this experience, I will never return. I also have a video of him yelling at the customer I wish I could put it on here so everyone could see how disgusting it was.
April 06 · junior GarciaThe food is so amazing, especially their hotdogs and burgers!! It’s so fun walking in because I know that i’ll get recognized and welcomed.
