Padi D'NYC Introduce
For those who have traveled to Southeast Asia and experienced the vibrant, aromatic world of street food, finding an authentic taste of that culture in New York City can feel like a quest. Padi D'NYC, a hawker stall located within the bustling Urban Hawker food market at 135 W 50th St, offers just that: a genuine taste of Singaporean and Malaysian cuisine. This is not a typical restaurant; it is a dedicated stall that brings the rich, comforting, and boldly flavored dishes of a traditional hawker center directly to the heart of Midtown Manhattan. It’s a true find for anyone craving a taste of home or a flavorful new culinary experience.
Padi D'NYC's concept is built on a foundation of classic, beloved dishes that are at the core of Singaporean and Malaysian dining. The menu is a journey through staples like Mee Rebus, Beef Rendang, and various satay options. What sets this place apart is the commitment to recreating the authentic experience. As one customer noted, the food is often cooked on-the-spot in a large wok, which is a hallmark of true hawker-style cooking and a sign of freshness. This approach, combined with traditional recipes, results in dishes that are rich, savory, and packed with flavor.
The restaurant is a testament to the idea that fantastic food doesn't require a formal setting. Its location within a food hall creates a casual and lively atmosphere, making it a perfect spot for a quick lunch, a satisfying pre-theater dinner, or a solo dining adventure. While some customers have pointed out minor differences from the food found in Malaysia—such as a slightly less intense flavor or a bit of toughness in the beef—the general consensus is that Padi D'NYC is an "amazingly close" and "decent option for sure." This speaks to its authenticity and quality, which is a significant achievement in a city where dining standards are high.
Beyond the food, the service is a notable highlight. One customer shared a story of a waiter who noticed their difficulty with spice and offered a can of soy milk on the house, an act of "exceptional" customer service that left a lasting positive impression. This kind of warm hospitality, combined with the comforting, flavorful food, makes Padi D'NYC a welcoming and memorable place to grab a bite. Whether you’re a tourist looking for an authentic experience or a local in search of a new favorite, this hawker stall delivers on its promise of delicious, hearty, and genuine Singaporean-Malay cuisine.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Needed a quick, hearty, and filling dish to share before catching a Broadway show and this satisfied our cravings! We were happy to see that the food was cooked on-the-spot in a huge wok after we ordered. The dish cost around $20 and we felt the price and portion size were reasonable for Midtown / Urban Hawker. The customer service was exceptional! The waiter noticed I was having a difficult time with the spice and offered a can of soy milk on the house. Overall 4/5—not the best Singapore-Malay food I've had, but a decent option for sure.
September 08 · Annabelle LuI grabbed the Beef Rendang Set from Padi D'NYC - Urban Hawker through MealPal and wow, the savory beef curry with white rice and that spicy sambal egg made for such a comforting, flavorful meal. Definitely hitting this spot again! After visiting Malaysia I loved the food. I’d say this version is amazingly close but less flavorful than in Malaysia. Also deducting a star because the beef was a little tough to chew. Overall satisfied and still recommend!
September 10 · JadeI got the beef rendang set. If you get it to stay, they provide the food on a plate with metal utensils which is a nice touch. It's similar to how it is at hawker centers in Singapore too.For $20, the set came with beef, fried egg, rice and salad. The salad was fresh and crispy. The fried egg was nice as it was somehow fried whole? It also came with slightly spicy sauce on top. The flavor of the beef was on point and a touch spicy. Actually the spice started the build for me the more I ate it. They also pour the sauce all over the rice which made it much tastier. I wish the beef was slightly more tender like pulled pork as it took a bit of elbow grease to shred the beef pieces with a metal fork and spoon.
May 21 · Jenn LAll the dishes were incredible, bursting with flavors!Beef rendang set. The beef is stewed to perfection, melting in your mouth with each bite. Each chunk of meat is infused with the essence of spices. Just can’t get enough!Mee rebus. Springy noodles drenched in a savory, sweet, and slightly spicy gravy, topped with fried shallots, diced tofu, and boiled eggs! The whole dish is an extremely comforting and hearty meal.Ayam gulai set. The chicken is incredibly tender and coated with an aromatic spice blend. It’s tantalizing to your taste buds.Lontong curry. The lontong rice cake is soft and pairs so well with the rich coconut milk curry. You can taste the depth of the medley of spices.Satay. The chicken and lamb are very well marinated! The meat is juicy and smoky. The peanut sauce provides a beautifully sweet contrast to the grilled skewers.
