Pizzatown Introduce
In a city where a simple slice of pizza can sometimes come with a hefty price tag, Pizzatown on Canal Street stands out as a true New York institution. This is not a place of frills or fine dining; rather, it is a testament to the city's a commitment to providing delicious, satisfying, and incredibly affordable food. Pizzatown has earned a loyal following for its no-nonsense approach to classic pizza, making it a reliable destination for a quick bite, a late-night snack, or a full, cheap meal. It’s a classic grab-and-go spot, perfectly suited to the fast-paced energy of its surroundings. The atmosphere is casual and straightforward, with a focus on getting customers their food quickly and efficiently. While some may look for a more polished experience, Pizzatown’s charm lies in its authenticity and value. It's a place where you can get a huge bargain for a small price, making it a favorite among a diverse crowd, from local workers to budget-conscious tourists and those just getting off work.
Pizzatown is located at 234 Canal Street, a vibrant and bustling location in the heart of Lower Manhattan. This puts it at the crossroads of several iconic neighborhoods, including Chinatown, SoHo, and Tribeca, ensuring high foot traffic at all hours. The address is a major advantage for its target audience, as it is easily accessible from multiple subway lines that run through Canal Street, making it a convenient stop for a quick meal before heading home or to another part of the city. The central location also makes it a popular choice for tourists exploring the area's landmarks and shops. While it may lack the polished ambiance of a traditional sit-down restaurant, its prime location and quick service make it a go-to spot for people who prioritize convenience and speed. The accessibility of the location, being on a main thoroughfare, ensures that it's easy for anyone to find and visit, solidifying its place as a true New York City staple.
The services at Pizzatown are focused on providing a quick and efficient experience for its customers.
- Takeout: This is the primary service offered. Most customers come in, order a slice or two, and take their food to go. This grab-and-go model is perfect for the fast-paced environment of Canal Street.
- Dine-in (limited): While the space is geared toward takeout, the restaurant offers a few stools by the window for those who wish to sit and eat. This limited seating provides a simple option for customers who want to enjoy their meal on-site.
- Delivery: As a modern eatery in NYC, Pizzatown offers delivery services through popular third-party apps, allowing people to enjoy their food without leaving the comfort of their home or office.
Pizzatown stands out for several key features and highlights that have cemented its status as a local favorite.
- Incredibly Affordable Prices: The most notable feature of Pizzatown is its prices. A $2 cheese slice is considered a "huge bargain" and a major draw, making it one of the most budget-friendly pizza spots in the area. This affordability allows customers to enjoy a full meal for a very low cost.
- Friendly and Accommodating Staff: Customer reviews consistently highlight the staff's exceptional friendliness. They are described as "SUPER FRIENDLY" and always "ready to help," with the owner himself being "very accommodating." This positive service experience adds significant value to the visit.
- Variety of Options: Beyond the classic cheese slice, Pizzatown offers a wide range of pizza toppings, including pepperoni, pineapple, mushroom, sausage and onions, and BBQ chicken. They also sell other popular items like delicious beef patties, which are also highly affordable.
- Late-Night Availability: Pizzatown is a well-known spot for people looking for a late-night bite. Its hours cater to a crowd that is just getting off work or is out late, providing a much-needed service when many other places are closed.

Choosing Pizzatown is a straightforward decision for anyone looking for a specific kind of pizza experience in New York City. It’s not the place for a quiet, sit-down dinner or a gourmet, artisanal pie. Instead, it’s the quintessential New York pizza joint—fast, cheap, and surprisingly satisfying. What makes it truly worth choosing is the unparalleled value it offers. In a city as expensive as New York, being able to get a substantial and tasty meal for a few dollars is a rarity. The a-la-carte style of buying slices and other items like beef patties allows you to create a customized and filling meal without breaking the bank. While some reviews mention the pizza is reheated and the atmosphere could be improved, it is these very factors that contribute to the low prices and quick service. The consensus among its loyal fans is that for the price and the quality, it’s one of the best places you can go. The friendly and welcoming staff, as noted by multiple customers, adds a personal touch that enhances the overall experience. Whether you're a local on a budget, a tourist looking for an authentic and cheap New York bite, or someone needing a quick late-night snack, Pizzatown delivers on all fronts, making it a reliable and cherished part of the Canal Street food scene.

Pizzatown Reviews
For the price and the quality of the pizza, very very few places are as good as this place, especially if you are out late at night and cannot find anything open and you are hungry and want to grab a bite. Their $2 slice is a huge bargain, but they also have plenty of other options like pepperoni, pineapple, mushroom, sausage and onions, bbq chicken and more. The beef patties are absolutely delicious as well and are only $3 each. You can pretty much call it a meal if you get a couple of slices, a beef patty and a cold beverage and all of that together is still very cheap. The staff are SUPER FRIENDLY and always ready to help. Even the owner who usually works late at night is very accommodating. The atmosphere does need some tweaking as they can easily spruce up the place and change the dynamic. I have on occasion noticed several empty cardboard cartons strewn on the floor but it’s not a big deal as they have only a few people working and taking care of the customers at the counter. Fewer staff means cheaper prices. There are several stools by the window if you want to sit down and eat, but most people just come here, grab a bite and leave. This place is very popular with people just getting off work and need a bite before they head home. This place easily deserves 5 stars for the prices, the quality of the food and the very friendly staff
January 18 · DakotaMid experience, reheated pizza. Prices for cheese slice is $2 plus tax. Everything else ranges for $4~$5. No prices you'll have to ask. Pizza dough was not crispy, rather dry. Toppings were okay, a bit sparce. I would not recommend if you are looking for new york style pizza experience.
February 17 · J LOverall good place for a pizza slice. It tends to get busy here with very limited seating. When we visited, the cashier was also preparing the orders and was getting impatient when being asked for the names/types of pizza on display. A simple name tag should have made it easier for people to make up their mind and order faster.
April 27 · A C NYKA really good NY slice at a decent price. It’s not a dollar, but it tastes better than most dollar slices in my opinion. Plus they take debit/credit card. If I were in the area craving pizza again, I’d definitely return.
July 01 · Christian PrescottTried a few pizza places during our visit to New York, including the famed Joe's. But in my opinion this place beats all the other places I've tried when it comes to a cheese slice. For $2 a slice, or grab two slices and a can of soda for $4.99 you get a great value lunch on the go. We stumbled across this place while visiting China Town and purposely made the trip all the way back here from Hoboken where we were staying.Definitely worth a visit
