What is Worth Choosing
The sheer volume of menu items at Puerto Rico Restaurant is one of its most compelling aspects. What makes it truly stand out is its commitment to satisfying a broad spectrum of tastes, a necessity in a major metropolitan hub like New York City.
For the uninitiated or for those seeking true Puerto Rican flavor, the Mofongos section is where you should begin. A classic Mofongo—mashed green plantains seasoned with garlic and usually pork cracklings—is a must-try. Choosing the Mofongos With Roast Pork (Pernil) or the Camarofongo (Mofongo with shrimp) will provide an excellent introduction to the island’s authentic, deep flavors. The Pernil from the House Specialties is also a highly recommended dish; perfectly seasoned and slow-roasted pork shoulder is a hallmark of Caribbean cuisine and a comforting classic.
Beyond the Caribbean staples, New Yorkers looking for variety will appreciate the seamless integration of other cuisines. The ability to order a generous platter of Roast Pork, BBQ Pork Ribs, or Chicken Cracklings (Frituras) by the pound makes it perfect for a spontaneous feast or a casual gathering. Furthermore, the selection of Italian dishes—ranging from Chicken Parmigiana and Spaghetti With Shrimp On Alfredo Sauce to a full Pizza menu—makes this a unique spot where every family member can find something they love, eliminating the typical debate over what cuisine to choose for dinner.
Whether you're starting your day with a hearty Dominican Breakfast or ending it with a powerful Steak With Onions or Whole Tilapia from the extensive seafood selection, Puerto Rico Restaurant offers generous portions, diverse flavors, and the kind of comforting, quality food that makes a local spot truly special. It serves as a culinary bridge in Brooklyn, offering a warm and welcoming environment for both dining in and taking out a taste of the Caribbean. The combination of accessibility, speed, and variety confirms Puerto Rico Restaurant’s place as a valuable and versatile dining fixture in Sunset Park.

July 19 · Limari MoralesAbsolutely amazing! From the moment we walked in, the service was warm and attentive, and the atmosphere was perfect, inviting, elegant, and cozy. Every dish was a masterpiece, bursting with flavor. You can tell the chefs put their heart into every plate. The ingredients were fresh, the portions generous, and the drinks were just as impressive. This place is a gem I’d give it 10 stars if I could! Highly recommend to anyone who loves great Hispanic food and an unforgettable hospitality experience. Can’t wait to come back!

June 08 · Nyzal CI'm not sure what they used for making the Alcapurias, but it sure wasn't Puerto Rican style! It wasn't masa that I ate! Was hard as h ell and flavorless! I'm not sure what kind of meat this was which was less than a teaspoon of it! The pictures attached shows how much I ate just to try this Mystery meat! I didn't taste the Adobo and there definitely wasn't any Sofrito used! I couldn't finish it. I'm 💯 % sure there couldn't possibly be any Puerto ricans cooking at this establishment!!! I feel very disrespected as a Puerto Rican and very disappointed! I should have known something was wrong when the place was empty. Y'all gotta do better or drop the name! If I could return these alleged "Alcapurias" I would! I will not be returning. You can't get me twice! 🇵🇷 Nunca más me volverás cojer como una tonta!
September 15 · Gladys FelicianoThe Alcapurrias were over cooked and very dry and did not taste good at all took one bite and had to throw it out the rice was good the beans on the other hand very watery and had no flavor the chicharrones we're very greasy to the point where I had at least a teaspoon of grease on the bottom of the pan I'm Puerto Rican myself and this is not Puerto Rican food
