Choosing Rainbow Falafel is all about embracing a classic, no-nonsense approach to great food. The top recommendation is, without a doubt, the falafel sandwich. Its reputation as "the best falafel sandwich" is a title earned through consistently fresh ingredients and a masterful execution of simple flavors. However, the menu offers much more to explore. The "Chicken Shawarma" is also a great option, providing a savory and satisfying alternative to the falafel. For a broader taste, the "Vegetarian Combo Plate" is an excellent choice, allowing you to sample a variety of their most popular items like falafel, hummus, babaghanouj, and grape leaves. The "Chicken Combo Plate" offers a similar opportunity for those who prefer meat.
Don't overlook the soups and pies. The "Syrian-Style Soups," like the Lentil or Split Pea, are hearty and comforting, especially on a chilly New York day. The "Lg. Spinach & Cheese Pie" is a great, flavorful choice for a grab-and-go snack or a lighter meal. The desserts, like the "Baklava" and "Kanafa," provide a sweet and authentic end to your meal. While some customers have had minor issues with dry bread or a salty dish, these seem to be the exception, not the rule. The overall experience, from the lightning-fast service to the delicious and well-made food, makes Rainbow Falafel a perfect spot for anyone in the Union Square area looking for a quick, affordable, and authentically flavorful meal. It's a reliable gem in a city filled with countless dining options.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1The best felafel sandwich. Fresh veg, subtle spices, simple goodness. Served up ninja style in under 30 seconds. Joyous.
May 20 · WalterReally wanted to like this place- food is just not it. Dry chicken and bread that falls apart. I have to use a fork to eat a sandwich … also very salty
March 25 · Fati AOld favorite on Union Square, have been coming here for 20+ years and it’s consistently some of the best falafel in the city, and run by a lovely family that produces a whole lot out of this sliver of a storefront on 17th between Broadway & 5th Ave. Everything is delicious including the soups, pastry, and my favorite the falafel platter, pics attached. Highly recommend.
February 15 · Matt MurphyThis little falafel shop is more of a kiosk than a restaurant. There are no seats, tables, servers, or bathrooms, only fantastic falafel (and maybe some sweets and drinks). While this small gem may be easily overlooked, it's not to be missed. The falafel platter, a personal favorite, is a delightful combination of lettuce, tomato, pickles, tahini, and a fluffy pita bread, all perfectly complementing the star of the show-the fantastic falafel.Walk across the street to Union Square Park and sit in the shade of a big tree. Just know that the squirrels love Rainbow Falafel, too, so you may have to defend your food. Enjoy!
July 30 · Scott LaineGEM. Jewel-box of a hole-in-the-wall. Skip the big chains and support little places like this. Great food! I'd recommend a falafel or spinach pie, topped off with the baklava for dessert. Probably $9 or $10 for that highly satisfying combo. Very nice person behind the counter (directed me to the Verizon store which I could look up, because my SIM card had quit on me...)
