Shiki Omakase Introduce
In New York City's vast and diverse food scene, the search for an exceptional Japanese dining experience can be a journey in itself. For those in the know, a true gem awaits in the heart of SoHo: Shiki Omakase. This Japanese restaurant specializes in the art of omakase—a traditional dining style where the chef curates a unique, multi-course tasting menu for each guest. Shiki, which translates to "four seasons," is a tribute to this concept, with chefs dedicated to sourcing the best seasonal seafood from around the world to create a culinary experience that is both authentic and inventive.
Stepping into Shiki Omakase is to enter a serene and intimate space, a welcome escape from the city’s relentless pace. The restaurant is a small, 12-seat room, designed to provide a focused and personal connection between the diner and the chef. This cozy and trendy atmosphere sets the stage for a meal that is as much about the artistry and skill of the chefs as it is about the flavors on the plate. The ambiance is enhanced by clean, simple decor and chill music, creating a peaceful and refined setting that allows the food to take center stage.
Shiki Omakase is a testament to the idea that great things come in small packages. The focus here is not on a massive, sprawling menu, but on a carefully crafted and ever-changing selection of dishes that highlight the freshest ingredients available. The chefs, who are noted for their skill and precision, guide you through a meal that is full of surprises and delight. Whether you are a seasoned omakase enthusiast or a curious newcomer, Shiki offers an experience that is both accessible and deeply satisfying. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Came here with my dad for his first omakase experience - made a reservation for 7 but showed up around 6:30 and were seated immediately! We had so much fun here! The hostess was kind and the chef preparing our food was kind and incredible at his craft. Our water cups were always filled which is always a nice touch. It’s really simple and clean inside with chill music which added to the ambiance. The plates were tasty and gorgeous!
August 01 · Lily RosenblumAmazing service from start to finish everything was so fresh and art fully crafted, the chef truly took his time to make sure every plate was perfect. Came here for my birthday & had an amazing 17 course omakase. 10/10 would recommend.
May 07 · MiaEverything at Shiki Omakase is excellent. The fish is fresh, the execution is precise, and the experience is consistently high quality. I truly don’t understand the negative reviews. I’ve eaten at many high-end sushi spots, and Shiki stands strong among them in terms of quality. Some people seem to judge the sushi based on how much the chef interacts with them. Really? It’s a sushi counter, not a Broadway show. The chef is there to prepare your food, not to entertain you. If you’re looking for a performance, try a comedy club or a strip club. The chefs at Shiki are kind, respectful, and yes, they do talk to you. But they also understand that this is your dinner, not an interview. They focus on giving you a great meal and a calm, elevated experience. If you’re looking for top-quality sushi at a fair price, come here. It’s absolutely worth it.
June 03 · Z KPretty good sushi course menu with a lot of the favorites - think of this place as a dependable but ultimately affordable neighborhood sushi spot. They have a bunch of specials they offer at the end so you may want to save some space.
May 08 · Rovik RobertExtremely friendly, kind and helpful staff. Came without a reservation and seated immediately. Got the 17 pieces, fall special and winter special and the yuzu sake. Enjoyed everything that I had. All of the seafood was fresh and clean. The music was lovely and added to the atmosphere. The timing you get the rolls and the explanations from the chef gave a amazing vibe. Everything was so good I don't know what tops are, but the add on I would suggest is the winter special that piece was mind blowing. 10/10
