What is worth choosing
Choosing Singh's Roti Shop & Bar is choosing a genuine slice of Caribbean life in the middle of Queens. The main draw is undoubtedly the authenticity and depth of flavor in the traditional West Indian dishes. The meats are celebrated for being marinated and slow-simmered, resulting in incredibly tender and fragrant meals.
The Roti: The namesake dish is a must-try. Whether you opt for the soft, flaky Roti Skin to wrap your main or the shredded, scoopable Buss Up Shut (paratha roti), the homemade quality is consistently praised. Pair it with any of the richly flavored main entrees.
The Doubles: Arguably one of their most popular items, the Doubles—a pair of soft bara flatbreads topped with curried chickpeas (channa)—are a legendary, affordable street food that is consistently fresh and flavorful. At only $1.00 per serving, it’s the perfect quick bite.
Signature Curries: The menu offers an extensive selection, but the Curry Goat ($8.00) and Curry Chicken ($6.50) are staple recommendations. For those seeking something different, the Curry Duck ($10.00), Curry Shrimp ($9.50), or even the unique Curry Mango ($6.50) offer deep, satisfying flavors.
Affordable & Diverse Menu: The pricing structure offers fantastic value, with most main entrees and combination meals, such as Fried Rice with Chicken ($8.00) or Chicken Lo Mein ($8.00), being very budget-friendly. The extensive range of appetizers like Aloo Pie ($1.25) and Poulourie w/ Tambrind Sauce ($2.00) allows for a true feast of small plates.
The Vibe: It's an ideal choice if you are looking for an energized environment. The combination of dining and a bar that offers Live music creates a destination that caters to both a casual dinner crowd and those looking for weekend entertainment. It’s an authentic local experience, frequently visited by Locals, Groups, and Families.
While some customer feedback occasionally mentions a slow service or wait times, especially during peak hours, this simply underscores the spot's immense popularity. For a New Yorker who appreciates authentic, family-recipe, West Indian food in a bustling, vibrant setting, Singh's Roti Shop & Bar is a culinary institution worth experiencing, and repeatedly visiting. The consistent quality of core items like the doubles and curried meats speaks volumes about its enduring legacy in the Queens food scene.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I’m honestly very disappointed with the food I received today. I waited in line for 50 whole minutes, only to be served food that completely lacked flavor. The macaroni pie had no taste whatsoever — it just didn’t mek it. The fried rice was bland, and the Chinese-style chicken had a strange, unpleasant taste. I also ordered dhal and rice with salt fish and curry, and again, the entire meal was flavorless. The only thing that had any real taste was the salt fish.I also ordered a doubles, and thankfully, that was actually good. But considering the rest of the order, I’m incredibly disappointed. After today’s experience, I can confidently say I won’t be coming back. It’s really unfortunate, especially after waiting so long.
August 31 · KenyaRecently visited this Trini Roti shop and thoroughly enjoyed our food. Our order consisted of doubles, Veggie Roti, Chicken Roti, Goat with Rice. For Roti, we opted for the plain roti which was a thick, chewy bhatura - but tasty!Food overall was a hit. Doubles could've been spicier but inline with what I'd have expected a roti shop to deliver in New York!Service was a little slow and we waited for a good 20 minutes before we got to the counter to place our order. It was all worth the wait however and the food was fresh!
April 23 · Ameya BhakayYou can always count on getting great food with generous portions here — a true taste of the Caribbean! On top of that, they give back to the community, which makes supporting them even more meaningful.
August 06 · Debora Chaitlall (Debs)I’ve only just recently been trying Roti shop places but this one is definitely been my favorite! The freshness in the food is outstanding and the flavor is on a whole new level! Finally had the chance to get over here and it was so amazing! Have some doubles and allo with curry chicken and it was outstanding! Can’t wait to have this again definitely a great spot!
April 01 · Joseph LanzarottaEverything from soup to nuts. And everything is ready by 6am in the morning. If u like Sunday Trini food in the morning this is the place for u every day. The roti and Dahl or buss up is not small and hott.
