★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I think the flavor is about the usual standard for the area. I didn’t taste anything especially unique, but it’s definitely not bad. This neighborhood is full of BBQ places and the ones I have tried have all been good. One suggestion: the meat in the guobaorou could be cut a bit thicker and larger, because sometimes the crust is much bigger than the meat and it’s not as satisfying to eat. It would also be great if they offered some meat without marinade, since over-marinating can sometimes take away from the texture. The lamb soup is quite tasty.
September 14 · Sixi MaVery fun meal, I had not seen a grill your own skewer place before. Good Chinese and szechuan side dishes as well. The cucumber salad was surprisingly good. The oyster was gigantic and looked like a meal unto itself. Not the most help for non-Chinese speakers, but sort of to be expected.
September 26 · Arthur ZakEveryone at this store is a little hard of hearing. Every sentence has to be said at least twice to be heard. The side dishes truly leave something to be desired. The only good quality of this store is the barbecue and even that is subpar. This side dish was completely not fresh and tastes like it was reheated.
June 05 · Berry XuThis restaurant reminds me a lot of China but the food was very mediocre. The main drawing point is the skewers. I tried the squid skewers and my parents tried the lamb. They seem to have liked the lamb but I thought the squid was abysmal. In addition we ordered several other dishes but they were all just okay. The ambiance was bad because it was very loud. The restaurant is clean but they sat us in the back near a party of teenagers and another group of loud people. Otherwise the restaurant is clean and very spacious.
June 17 · LilyI had an amazing experience at Song Lai Xiang! The meat was incredibly tender and delicious, with perfectly balanced seasonings that really elevated the flavors. The skewers, though varying slightly in size due to the cooking mechanism, are fairly priced at just $2 each. The drink prices are impressively affordable, and the free sides were a delightful bonus—absolutely tasty! The service was outstanding; the waitstaff were incredibly helpful, friendly, and informative. On top of that, the restaurant was spotless, which added to the overall great atmosphere.Parking was convenient, with plenty of spaces available in the neighborhood and a small parking lot nearby. I highly recommend trying the lamb, beef, and short rib skewers—they were all phenomenal.I genuinely have nothing negative to say about this place. I was thoroughly impressed and can’t wait to return. If you’re looking for delicious food and top-notch service, Song Lai Xiang is the place to go!
