Its casual and welcoming environment, combined with the availability of things like fresh coffee and quick bites, makes it an ideal spot for someone looking for a quiet moment to themselves. The cafe's legacy, having been a beloved spot under a different name for many years, speaks to its enduring appeal and ability to serve the local community. The prices are considered great for the NYC and Queens area, providing excellent value for the quality of food and drinks received. While there was a review that had a negative experience with a specific employee, the overwhelmingly positive feedback on the food, coffee, and general vibe makes it a worthwhile place to visit. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I’ve been going to this location for many years, even when it was called Coffeed. I always just buy coffee/juice, and possibly kosher food items like fruit and protein bars. They’ve let me enjoy my own kosher items, while drinking their drinks.Coffeed had a better selection of coffee, but Standard’s coffee and fresh orange juice is quality. The counter lady is nice. However, after my experiences earlier yesterday, I would not recommend the place to anyone. Do not expect to be properly treated as a customer here. The place has an employee entrance, as well as a shop entrance to the street, which should be boarded up, as you will not receive any grace for your patronage. There also is a back game room/lounge, usually empty but wide open to customers, which should be placed under lock and key, based upon my experience yesterday morning.I was trying to repack my bags and recharge my phone, and was sent a security guard, rather than a store employee, to tell me I couldn’t do that and that I needed to leave. When I asked for extra time, they told me to leave immediately. They proceeded to take all my items and place them on the street. I stayed a while, on the street, to repack, and no one offered assistance. Not such caring people, but they’ll serve you coffee.
July 10 · Daniel KronengoldWonderful café! It’s a great stop for the area. I really enjoyed my coffee ☕️ here and their food. The desserts are fresh and tasty and the sandwiches are really good! I enjoyed the chicken pesto a lot and the tasty chips! Also they have some of the best croissants in the city! Everything’s always really fresh and delicious. If you’re stopping in for a quick grab and go, only the snacks and pastry’s are that quick; if you order food it’s going to take a moment because it’s fresh; which for me was well worth the wait! The music and vibes are always good inside too 😎 🎶 definitely check them out if you’re in the area. The prices are also great for NYC/Queens! Come on down!😋 🥐 🥑 🐷 🥓 🍰
November 02 · Robert YoungMy 80-something grandfather, who is hard of hearing, has been a loyal customer at Standard Café , and all he ever orders is soup. Last week friday just a few minutes after 2 o’clock, he walked in unaware that the soup was no longer available—and what happened next was heartbreaking. The girl with glasses at the entrance, smoking a hookah pen while on duty, spoke about him in Spanish in a cruel and degrading way because he couldn’t hear properly. My grandfather, a kind and longtime customer, was humiliated in front of others. Where is the respect for our elders? Where is basic human decency? I am shocked, disgusted, and heartbroken. No one, especially someone elderly, should ever be treated this way. Standard Café, please do better.
August 18 · NessaThe Standard Cafe has excellent food and is part of a company that also offers catering! See pictures for the latest menu. They make great pastas, sandwiches, and their corn chowder soup is excellent! Everyone in the building so glad to have a great option for food or coffee on the go that doesn't require a long walk especially in the winter. Thanks for opening Standard Cafe!
December 05 · Lindsay MaurerWe got cappuccinos and the avocado toast. The coffee was too hot to even sip even after waiting 20 minutes for it to cool down. Nothing special about the coffee, mediocre at best. Same with the avocado toast. We didn't even eat the chips because they felt kind of stale. Giving 2 stars because the staff was nice and friendly.
