Suram Sushi & Ramen Introduce
In a city as vibrant and diverse as New York, the search for authentic and high-quality Japanese cuisine is a journey many locals embark on. Suram Sushi & Ramen, nestled on the city’s West End Avenue, offers a promising destination for this culinary quest. This small yet impactful restaurant has quickly become a notable spot, combining the best of two Japanese culinary staples: fresh, expertly prepared sushi and soul-warming ramen. The name "Suram" itself is a clever portmanteau of these two specialties, signaling the establishment's focus on a balanced and satisfying menu. Unlike larger, more commercial venues, Suram provides a more intimate and focused dining experience, which is a key part of its appeal. The atmosphere is described as elegant yet cozy, striking a balance that makes it suitable for various occasions, from a casual weeknight dinner to a more celebratory outing. The restaurant's commitment to using fresh, high-quality ingredients is a point of pride, and it's reflected in the flavor and presentation of every dish. While the city's food scene is known for its constant evolution, Suram seems to be carving out its own niche by prioritizing substance and flavor, a strategy that resonates deeply with New Yorkers who appreciate a meal that is both delicious and well-crafted.
Suram Sushi & Ramen is conveniently located at 21 W End Ave, New York, NY 10023, placing it within the bustling and residential landscape of the Upper West Side. The restaurant's prime location makes it a highly accessible spot for locals in the area, as well as for those visiting from other boroughs or out of town. The A, B, C, D, and 1 subway lines are all within a reasonable walking distance, making it simple to get there without a car. Suram Sushi & Ramen Reviews
Food is good but overpriced. Everything was fresh and flavorful. I really liked the salmon carpaccio. It melted in my mouth and the citrus with the truffle oil was a good combination. There is a single bathroom that was kept clean so that’s good. And the food came out quick. The sesame cheese cake sounded good and different, it was pretty dense and it wasn’t amazing but still good. They drizzled maraschino cherry juice over it which doesn’t really go with black sesame. I made a reservation through google but apparently that doesn’t do anything, I told the waiter and he said they don’t take reservations. It wasn’t too bust at 6:00 on a Friday night. It is a small place with about 10 tables.Downsides were the prices and the floor was very very slippery coming in. It was raining outside so it was soaking wet and I almost slipped and fell multiple times. Someone should mop the floor when it rains.
May 24 · MarisaThe standout was the service, from making the reservation on the phone, to seating our large group, being patient with our ordering and serving really delicious food so graciously. Dishes were moderately priced and it felt like excellent value for money. A standout experience in the city.
August 10 · Tanielle ElliottCucumber salad, spicy tuna roll, tuna avocado maki roll and Niki Udon. All very good. We went on off hours and service was fast and place was quiet for NYC. Pictures tell the story. Try them out!
July 24 · Alan AFriendly staff, nice and nice represented dishes, and fish on the wall at a Japanese restaurant !! The yam roll is really impressive with tempura texture but in a roll. The bowl is also nice. You can get salad or miso soup. The dressing for salad is great, and the veggies are crunchy!!
June 22 · Bill HuangEverything about this place exceeded my expectations, the server was SO polite and even brought us a free AMAZING appetizer! Sushi was super quality and the sushi rice was soo good - and I’m super picky about that!! Very grateful and will definitely return!
