If you are searching for a casual, friendly atmosphere and food that feels homemade, this local spot should be on your list for your next quick bite or family meal.
The name itself, Tacos Y Cemitas Mary, is a clear indication of their specialties. Cemitas, a traditional sandwich from the state of Puebla, Mexico, is a regional delight that stands out from the more common Mexican fare found across New Jersey. It's often served on a soft, sesame-seed-crusted roll and generously stuffed with fresh ingredients, Oaxaca cheese, and a signature herby leaf known as papalo. The fact that this local spot leads with this specialty speaks volumes about the authenticity of their menu and their dedication to offering dishes beyond the usual.
The menu selection at Tacos Y Cemitas Mary aims to cater to different tastes and cravings throughout the day. While the prices are always subject to change, an overview of their main offerings shows their focus on substantial and satisfying meals. Main dishes like the Cemitas and Tacos are priced competitively, offering an excellent value for the portion sizes. Other enticing options often include Tortas, which are Mexican sandwiches similar to the Cemitas but on a different roll, and Super Cemitas for those with a larger appetite. For a complete meal, patrons can find heartier plates like Quesadillas, Posole (a traditional hominy stew), Sopa De Pollo (chicken soup), and Enchiladas. This variety ensures that whether you're looking for a small plate or a full comfort food meal, you will find something to satisfy your hunger.
One of the key elements that sets an authentic Mexican restaurant apart is the quality of its staple ingredients, and Tacos Y Cemitas Mary excels in this area. Customer feedback frequently highlights the quality of their ingredients, particularly noting that the tortillas are "real and homemade." This commitment to house-made essentials like tortillas and fresh sauces makes a significant difference in the final product. For instance, the savory and vibrant salsa verde has been specifically praised by patrons for its delicious flavor, often managing to redeem a dish even if other components are considered unseasoned. This delicious, house-made salsa verde, paired with fresh, homemade corn tortillas, elevates even the simplest of dishes into a truly authentic and crave-worthy experience.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1The food was nothing special I had a Torta de milanesa de pollo with chipotle. I was not impressed. Specially when you pay almost $10 for a sandwich. It’s a big sandwich but you get more bread than anything else. The chicken is cut very thin. Also, usually places put refríed beans in the sandwich.
July 06 · Ervin M VenturaThis is a little whole in the wall place. Its cute and feels like you are in another country. Food was ok. The chicken had no seasoning in the quesadilla, even salt. It redeemed itself because it had a delicious salsa Verde and the the tortillas are real and homemade. Service was fine, it looks like a small family runs it. The portions were large so its not as pricey as you may think, like one order of quesadilla can feed three people. The horchata was no good though.
September 05 · Vlora AhmetiDefinitely the best Mexican restaurant I have ever been to! The food is simply delicious and reminds me of my home town’s food in Mexico 🇲🇽. The mushroom quesadillas are simply delicious! Definitely recommend if you happen to drive by!
July 17 · Dafne LizardiI won't complain about the food but the service makes me not wanting to order ever again. The guy who answers the phone was horrible and talks very nasty over the phone. Please train your employees to have great customer service because you will loose customers.
