Tamashii Izakaya (Izakaya Haru) Introduce
Introduction / Overview
For New Yorkers in the Queens region seeking an authentic yet modern Japanese dining experience, look no further than Tamashii Izakaya (also known as Izakaya Haru) in Bayside. This establishment perfectly embodies the spirit of an Izakaya—a traditional Japanese pub where patrons gather to socialize, drink, and enjoy a wide variety of delicious small plates designed for sharing. Tamashii Izakaya elevates this concept, offering a contemporary take on classic Japanese comfort food, specialized Yakitori (grilled skewers), and hearty options like Udon and Donburi.
The restaurant's core identity is that of a modern Izakaya and Yakitori destination. An Izakaya is distinct from a traditional restaurant; it's a casual, social hub known for its relaxed atmosphere, shared dining style, and extensive drink menu. Tamashii Izakaya excels by providing a cozy, trendy, and casual atmosphere, making it a favorite for friends, families, groups, and even solo diners looking to unwind after a long day. Customers frequently praise the delicious food, particularly the high quality of the meat skewers, and the attentive service from the staff, noting the experience is reminiscent of dining in Japan.
With an incredibly diverse menu ranging from crispy appetizers like Takoyaki and Chicken Karaage to filling noodle and rice bowls, and a fantastic selection of grilled items, Tamashii Izakaya is an essential addition to the local culinary landscape. It is not just a place to eat, but a vibrant social experience that caters to both lunch and late-night cravings.

Situated right on Bell Boulevard, the restaurant is easily accessible for local residents and those traveling from other parts of Queens or Long Island. However, a crucial piece of information for first-time visitors is its specific placement: the restaurant is located on the second floor. The location in Bayside, a lively and family-friendly area, makes it a perfect stop for a meal while exploring the local shops and sights. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Absolutely an amazing experience m. We just got back from Japan not too long ago and this place definitely brought us back. The meat skewers Yakitori are out of this world. The staff does an excellent job and they’re very attentive. You can’t go wrong with any of their choices, but we loved the beef udon the most. We’ll definitely be back very soonGreat prices and great decor. It can get a little crowded on the weekends
March 31 · Grenten DhuliThe food is SO good!!! The people working there are SO nice. We had an amazing time trying different skewers and everyone was delicious. Lots of choices on the menu, we took our time and ordered a few different plates. The lemonade, by the way, was delicious, sweet, but not too sweet❤️Can’t wait to return! One thing to keep in mind, this part of the restaurant is on the second floor. There are stairs leading up to it. It’s a small place, but if there’s a wait, it will be worth the wait.
May 04 · Tatiana HooverAbsolutely great service, cozy environment, and good food and drinks. Our server was great with recommendations and so friendly.Happy hour prices are a bonus too!We had the chicken Kara-age, takoyaki, steamed spicy clams, and variety of yakitori—chicken thigh with scallion, eggplant, shrimp, pork belly with mochi and enoki, and Kuro sausage with green peppers. Drink was “To Yuzu”
August 27 · Halle PFirst time here and not a good experience! The food are mostly pre made frozen foodSkewers are kinda dryThe worst part was the beef..I have no idea what kinda beef they use, they were all chewy as rubber, looks like they were all after trimmed cuts that should be throw in the garbage!Service was okay ,but I’m sure I won’t go back again as the area have a lot much better choices and competition!
November 24 · JC LeeCozy cute spot perfect for late nite Japanese small plates and delicacies.Yakitori are huge!
