Thái Sơn Introduce
Thái Sơn is more than just a restaurant; it’s a culinary landmark in the bustling Queens neighborhood of Elmhurst. While some might think of it as just another spot for a quick meal, those in the know recognize it as a place that delivers an authentic and profound Vietnamese dining experience. Nestled amidst the vibrant streets of Elmhurst, the restaurant has earned a loyal following by serving dishes that are both deeply traditional and exceptionally well-prepared. It’s the kind of place that captures the rich flavors and a sense of genuine Vietnamese culture, offering a welcome escape from the daily hustle for a truly satisfying meal.
The menu at Thái Sơn is a testament to the restaurant's commitment to classic Vietnamese cuisine. The star of the show is undoubtedly their Rice Noodle Beef Soup, or Pho, with a wide range of options from the foundational Phở Tái to the rich and flavorful Phở Bò Kho. A standout, as noted by a reviewer, is the Phở Đặc Biệt, which translates to "Special Pho" and typically includes a variety of different beef cuts and textures in an extraordinary broth. The menu also features other popular Vietnamese staples, such as Pan Fried Egg Noodles and Chow Fun, with choices like Mì Xào Dòn Đồ Biển and Phở Xào Thịt Bò Rau Cải. Beyond the savory, the restaurant offers coffee and desserts, creating a comprehensive dining experience.
The food's quality is consistently praised by customers. One enthusiastic review raved that the pho was "probably the best I've ever had," and was particularly "awestruck" by the combination of grilled pork with angel hair noodles. This kind of high praise for the depth of flavor in the broth and the balance of ingredients speaks volumes about the kitchen's skill. Another review suggested the "shrimp sour soup" and "frog legs on a spice sauce" were "delicious" and a "must go." While one customer noted a minor disappointment with the summer rolls, the overall consensus is that the main dishes are extraordinary and live up to the hype, providing a true taste of Vietnam right here in Queens.
Thái Sơn's location at 40-10 74th St in Elmhurst, NY 11373, USA is a significant advantage. Situated in a dense and diverse neighborhood, it is easily accessible to a large population. While the address is listed in Elmhurst, its close proximity to the Jackson Heights border places it in a prime spot known for its vibrant South Asian, Latin American, and Southeast Asian communities, making it a natural destination for authentic ethnic cuisine.
The restaurant's accessibility is one of its core strengths. It is just a stone's throw away from the Jackson Heights-Roosevelt Avenue/74th Street Broadway subway station, a major transportation hub that serves the E, F, M, R, and 7 train lines. This makes it incredibly convenient for anyone traveling from Manhattan, Brooklyn, or other parts of Queens. For locals, it's a simple and straightforward walk, and for those coming from farther away, the subway provides an efficient route.
While the neighborhood is bustling and street parking can be challenging, the restaurant's location on a main thoroughfare means it is highly visible and easy to find. For those who choose to visit, the experience is described as a "great find" that feels like a hidden gem amidst the "hustle and bustle." This combination of being a well-known spot that is also somewhat tucked away adds to its charm and makes the discovery of its incredible food all the more rewarding. The central location in a highly walkable area ensures a constant flow of both dedicated customers and new diners looking for an authentic meal.
Thái Sơn provides a focused set of services that prioritize the dining experience and convenience.
Takeout: As with most New York restaurants, takeout is a key service, allowing customers to enjoy their favorite dishes from the comfort of their own homes. The focus is on a quick and efficient pickup process.
Dine-in: The restaurant offers a dine-in option, which is where the full experience of the food is best enjoyed. A reviewer described the environment as "quiet," suggesting a comfortable place to sit down and savor the meal without the distractions of a busy street.
Multiple Dining Options: The menu caters to a full dining experience, offering options for lunch, dinner, and even dessert. This versatility makes it a suitable spot for a variety of occasions, from a solo lunch to a full-fledged dinner with friends.
Payment Flexibility: The restaurant accepts debit cards and NFC mobile payments, providing modern and convenient payment options for its customers, which is a key feature in today's fast-paced environment.
Thái Sơn stands out from other restaurants in the area with several key features that have earned it a reputation as a must-visit.
Extraordinary Pho Broth: This is arguably the biggest highlight. The "flavor and depth of the broth was extraordinary," as one customer put it. This indicates a commitment to slow-cooked, rich flavors that are the hallmark of great pho. The menu item ĐặC BiỆT, which means "special," confirms this focus on a complete and premium experience.
Authentic and Rich Flavors: Beyond the pho, dishes like the grilled pork with angel hair noodle are celebrated for their "combination of the pork, noodles, cucumber, and fish sauce," which left a customer "awestruck." This suggests a masterful balance of textures and flavors that is truly authentic.
Hidden Gem Vibe: Despite its central location, the restaurant is described as a "little hide amongst the hustle and bustle," making it feel like a "great find." This adds to the sense of discovery and makes the dining experience feel more personal and rewarding.
Diverse Menu: While specializing in Vietnamese food, the menu is extensive, offering a variety of noodle dishes, as well as unique options like frog legs and shrimp sour soup, catering to both classic and adventurous palates.

For New Yorkers who know their pho, this is a destination. The reviews speak for themselves, with one customer claiming the pho was the "best I've ever had." This is not an empty claim; it suggests a rich, deeply simmered broth and fresh ingredients that stand out from the competition. The experience of the grilled pork with angel hair noodles also highlights the kitchen's skill in creating balanced and memorable dishes that go beyond the expected.
While the lack of sparkling water, as one customer noted, is a small detail, it also speaks to the restaurant's focus on the essentials. They aren't trying to be everything to everyone; they are focused on doing what they do best: creating exceptional Vietnamese food. For a true New York local who values flavor and authenticity over unnecessary frills, this is a major selling point.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1A great place to stop and try the rich flavor of Vietnamese culture. A little hide amongst the hustle and bustle of Jackson Heights , but a great find when you get there. Good environment, quiet , and I suggest the shrimp sour soup - delicious ! And their frog legs on a spice sauce ! A must go place when in Jackson Heights . Oh, they don’t have sparkling water , just in case . I ordered and I though they didn’t understand but in the end I realized they really didn’t have it .
January 20 · Jay BeeWe ordered #1, #37, and #19. The start was not great as I was initially a bit disappointed with the mundane summer rolls. I guess its hard to really impress with summer rolls, but the rest of the meal was eye opening👀. The pho was probably the best Ive ever had, the flavor and depth of the broth was extraordinary. And the grilled pork with angel hair noodle, this is something else! The combination of the pork, noodles, cucumber, and fish sauce left me awestruck. I cannot wait to go back to try the rest of the menu!!
January 01 · SM Cliterally the best viet restaurant i’ve been in nyc!! the service is fast and nice, they’re very attentive too. we ordered beef pho, spring rolls, and grilled pork chops over rice - all cooked well! the spring rolls were soo crispy and crunchy, and came w lots of lettuce! this was enough to fill me up for the rest of the night - and was super affordable. will come back for more!
April 17 · Jenn LiuI love this place! I'm a Brooklyn boy born and raised. But when I started dating a Queens girl who awesomely became my wife and we are on 5 years all due to my love of real Pho. Their Pho so far in my opinion is the most flavourful and authentic till date. As I have had many many different Pho's. It's extremely flavorful, the price is super awesome... But for the price for extra large is even more unreal, in a good way. The Calamari is very different then your traditional fried calamari. But these happen to be two of my own personal favorites.
March 07 · Ivan FerdousMe and my hubby went today for dinner. My first visiting here was great so we went back again. But this time, I was really really disappointed.1. Staffs are unfriendly and very busy2. we ordered pho #1, #3 and summer rollsHonestly tastes was totally different then last time.Summer roll looks not fresh. Seems like it already made before and taste is very blended. From pho, broth had no flavor so I asked more broth. Eventually I found out that they charged me without any notice.Honestly, this place was my number one pho place but now It's was not worthy money to visit here. I will be never go again.
