This is a bar that prides itself on delivering a high-end experience without the stuffy pretense, making it an ideal destination for everything from a post-work drink to a memorable night out.
The atmosphere at The Boardroom is described by customers as both relatively casual and elegant, striking a perfect balance. It's a popular spot for after-work happy hours that can easily extend into a full evening. ---### Location and Accessibility
The Boardroom is a "hidden speakeasy," and its location adds to its mystique. Situated at 150 E 54th St, New York, NY 10022, USA, it is located within a larger complex known as The Hugh, an upscale food hall at the base of the historic 601 Lexington building. This puts it in a prime location in Midtown Manhattan, easily accessible from various parts of the city. Its proximity to major subway lines, including the E and M trains at the Lexington Ave/53rd St station and the 6 at 51st St, makes it a convenient spot for commuters and locals alike. For those navigating the streets of New York, finding the entrance can be part of the fun. As one reviewer mentioned, you might miss it once or twice, but the search is well worth the reward. This location is perfect for a business meeting, a date, or a night out with friends, placing it right in the center of the action while still maintaining its sense of being a hidden gem.
The establishment's physical accessibility is also a consideration for guests. While the "hidden" nature of the entrance is a feature, the space itself is designed to be a comfortable and welcoming lounge. Given its location within a modern building, it is likely to have standard accessibility features. The bar is known to have restrooms and offers seating at the bar and in cozy booths, accommodating a variety of group sizes and preferences. Its upscale yet casual atmosphere invites a diverse crowd, from professionals to tourists, all of whom can appreciate its central and accessible location.

Speakeasy Vibe: The "speakeasy" element, with a hidden entrance and a sultry, intimate interior, is a major draw. It creates a sense of discovery and exclusivity without being unapproachable.
Expertly Crafted Cocktails: This is the bar's most significant highlight. The drinks are not just mixed; they are "crafted" with unique personalities and a high level of expertise. The menu features a variety of creative and classic libations, ensuring there's something for every palate.

Strategic Location: Situated in Midtown East, an area that lacks a high number of upscale cocktail bars, The Boardroom fills a niche and has become a "gem" in its neighborhood. Its convenient location is a major plus for locals and tourists alike.
It is worth noting one review that mentioned a baked-in 20% tip, which was a surprise to the customer. While this is a practice at some establishments, it's something for patrons to be aware of when reviewing their bill to avoid any confusion.

The Boardroom Reviews
While there are not a lot of higher-end cocktail bars in this part of town, this speakeasy stands out as an area gem. Fun, friendly bartenders and delicious cocktails. The atmosphere is relatively casual and easy to fit into, even after a long day of work. Yet the drinks are anything but your standard affair. Crafted with a deep sense of pride and expertise, each drink we tried had a unique personality. Highly recommended! Just forgive yourself if you miss the entrance once... or twice.
May 24 · Paul FryzelOrdered two $24 cocktails and was a little thrown off when I saw the $60 bill. At first I was like wow tax is terrible here… Service was fine. Quickly realized 20% is baked in.. fine with tipping but did not see any fine print or anything on the cocktail menu.
August 07 · Aaron GlanceWe stumbled into this spot while in the area and we're pleasantly surprised. Despite not having reservations we were able to snag seats at the bar (they also had tables available). The atmosphere was quiet enough where we could have conversations but lively enough where it didn't feel like a ghost town.I personally got two cocktails first being Mr. Pink which was light and refreshing (like a spiked ice tea but minty). Afterwards, I went for a more fruity approach and tried Charlotte's Dilemma which was equally delicious but definitely on the fruity/sweeter side. The drinks are a bit more towards the pricey end here (about $24 per cocktail, which might just be average these days) but they were mixed well 👍
September 14 · Daniel BorensteinIncredibly sweet lounge bar. It’s usually a busy spot but we’ve gotten pretty lucky in showing up pre or post crowded timing. The drinks are quite honestly amazing every single time. And they definitely know how to make a gin martini.
June 26 · Nathan S.What a beautiful speakeasy tucked inside the food court. We opted to sit by the bar to chat with the bartenders. They were very helpful in recommending drinks. The cocktail menu was extensive, offering many options. The cocktails we ordered were beautifully presented, tasty, and spirit-forward. Though the price tag was high, it reflected the drink's complexity.
