★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I'll add my name to the others who have nothing but great things to say about The Hoptimist.Came in on a weekday night, probably around 7:30-8ish.Not a lot of action in the bar or outside (excluding pedestrians and vehicular traffic on Amsterdam Ave. No complaints about that.Decently stocked beer fridge in the back and some goodies on tap.Had a flight with 4 solid NY brews...a sour, something from Equilibrium, aDDH and 4th slips my mind. Also had my usual accompaniment of a cheeseburger with fries from the restaurant next door.Burger cooked just like I like it... medium well. Nice sized burger, not quite 5 napkin or Jackson Hole but the beer is the draw to Hoptimist. Fries were good and hot, with just the right amount of salt. The bartender on duty...nice fella. Very knowledgeable regarding the local brewery scene, helped plan out my flight. (I have to do better remembering names)The Hoptimist specializes in NYC region brews, so don't go looking for Hill Farmstead ,Treehouse, Alchemist, although I believe I saw a Lawton's in the fridge.Nice looking place. Really appreciate the NY centric art, especially the "mural" of sorts with all the breweries in the region.Had two more full sized pints of the coffee stout and snagged a variety 4pk (for the road.Including tip was in and out for under $75.
July 02 · Taurus MichelVery dog friendly!! A place to kick back with excellent beer. (Bear, the bartender, is always welcoming and has suggestions for the beer your looking for. The burgers next door are excellent!
September 02 · Joanne WatsonThis place is delightful! Great beers on tap, even better service from the lady serving. Even a happy hour on food! Burger and a pint for 15 bucks?! Go on then. Give this place a try. Like now!
May 27 · Vincent NashPleasant little bar offering rare brews on tap and in bottles. Get there early before it gets mobbed. Maybe 10 tables inside, and a few out front. Place was clean, beer was delicious and cold. Very relaxing, neighborhood atmosphere. Dog friendly.
May 31 · PhilYouInVery cozy spot, great beer selection, very warming and helpful staff, super dog friendly. Highly recommend.
