The Parlor Introduce
The culinary landscape of Westchester County, NY, is dotted with hidden gems, but few shine as brightly and with as much unique flair as The Parlor in Dobbs Ferry. Far from a conventional pizzeria, The Parlor is the brainchild of celebrated Chef David DiBari, offering a decidedly modern and energetic take on traditional Italian and Neapolitan cuisine. It's an establishment that has carved out a loyal following among New Yorkers for its exceptional quality, creative menu, and distinctively casual-trendy atmosphere.
For those living in or traveling through the New York region, seeking an 'upper crust' yet laid-back dining experience, The Parlor is a must-visit. It successfully blends the rustic charm of authentic wood-fired pizza with an inventive small plates menu and a serious cocktail program, making it an ideal destination for a memorable lunch, dinner, or just a quick, high-quality bite. Having received an 'Excellent' rating by The NY Times, this location confirms its status as a notable culinary destination, living up to the high standards set by Chef DiBari's nearby, highly-touted Italian restaurant, The Cookery.
The focus here is firmly on authenticity and quality, centered around a powerful wood-burning oven that imparts a signature flavor to their renowned Neapolitan pizzas. However, The Parlor’s appeal extends well beyond its main offering, inviting patrons to explore a menu that's both comforting and progressively creative. Whether you are craving a simple, perfect Margherita or a more adventurous specialty pie, this Dobbs Ferry spot promises a lively and delicious experience.

What truly sets The Parlor apart is its unique blend of high-quality ingredients, innovative dishes, and an intentionally eclectic, "unconventional" vibe. It is an experience that caters to food enthusiasts who appreciate quality without the formality. The restaurant is a true reflection of Chef DiBari's "eat serious...have fun" philosophy.
- Authentic Wood-Fired Neapolitan Pizza: The cornerstone of the menu, pizzas are cooked in a giant wood-burning oven, achieving the perfect charred, light, and airy crust characteristic of true Neapolitan style.
- Progressive Small Plates: Beyond pizza, the menu excels with creative small plates and starters. The Fried Brussels Sprouts with rice crispies, parmigiano, and chili honey are legendary and a highly recommended appetizer. Other unique items include Parlor Pockets (soft-boiled eggs wrapped in pizza dough) and wood-fired oysters.
- Creative Atmosphere: The decor is distinctive, featuring corrugated, graffiti-tagged walls by local street artists, mismatched furniture, and an upbeat soundtrack, creating an energetic and edgy-casual vibe that is often compared to a "Williamsburg restaurant inside a suburban one." The cheeky slogan 'get baked' is famously graffitied on the walls.
- Craft Cocktails and Unique Beverage Program: The Parlor is known for its excellent selection of cocktails, including house-bottled Prohibition-style cocktails served in miniature hipflasks, such as the Classic Negroni and the Bee's Knees. They also feature an all-tap wine program and a beer list that ranges from "American Classics" (like Colt 45 and Pabst) to serious "Beers for the Beer Geek."
- Dessert Innovation: The dessert menu includes unique and highly-praised items like The Dough-wich (an ice cream sandwich meets pizza, assembled tableside) and a delicious Brookie (a cookie met a brownie).
- Customer Engagement: Pizzas are often served uncut with a pair of scissors for guests to slice their own, adding a fun, interactive element to the dining experience, especially popular with kids.
- High Quality and House-Made Ingredients: Mozzarella is often made in-house, and the pizza is made from scratch daily, reinforcing the commitment to fresh, quality food.

When reviewing the extensive and creative menu at The Parlor, certain items consistently stand out as customer favorites and signature dishes, making them essential choices for a first-time visitor from the New York area.
Must-Try Dishes:
The core menu is focused on Neapolitan pizza and progressive small plates. Given the restaurant's reputation, starting with a pizza and one of their highly-praised appetizers is the best way to experience the full range of flavors.
- The Wood-Fired Pizza: While the classic Margherita Pizza ($17.00) is a timeless test of a great pizzeria, customers also rave about the more inventive options. The Roni Roni Roni ($19.00) and the Lemonator ($19.00) (featuring cured lemons and lemon oil) are frequently cited as must-orders.
- That Griddle Burger: Despite being a pizza restaurant, the That Griddle Burger ($20.00), a "Not Pizza" menu item with aged cheddar, potato bun, lettuce, and "happy sauce," is an incredibly popular item, sometimes being the most ordered item on third-party platforms, proving its reputation as an absolutely amazing choice for non-pizza cravings.
- Fried Brussels Sprouts: The Brussel Sprouts ($15.00), featuring a unique combination of rice crispies and chili honey, is an award-winning appetizer that is almost universally praised as a required starter for any meal here.
- Parlor Pockets: For a unique appetizer, try the Parlor Pockets ($14.00), which are soft-boiled eggs, ricotta, and truffle wrapped in the signature pizza dough.
Other Recommendations:
For those looking to save a bit while sampling the menu, the daily Happy Hour from 3 PM - 6 PM offers $2 off appetizers and pizza, providing a perfect opportunity to try multiple options. Furthermore, for those dining on a Sunday, the Sunday Supper Packages are a great value, bundling salad, wings, and pizzas for two ($60.00), four ($100.00), or six ($150.00) people.
The Parlor is more than just a place to eat; it’s an experience with a fun, non-traditional vibe and seriously good food. It successfully merges the comforting staples of Italian cuisine—like perfectly executed pizza and meatballs (available as a topping on "The Balls" pizza or as a side)—with innovative, memorable dishes and a lively, inclusive atmosphere. Whether you are looking for a date night with great cocktails or a family outing where the kids can cut their own pizza with scissors, The Parlor delivers a quality and distinctively New York dining experience in the heart of Dobbs Ferry.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I rode 34 miles from Brooklyn to dobbs ferry and just had one of the best wood fired pizzas in my life. The staff and service was beyond phenomenal. This was worth every painful minute of riding.
July 27 · damen ellingsonMy girlfriend and I eat here for the first time on the recommendations of a friend. There is a chill retro vibe in this restaurant with its Decor being somewhat unique like a village bar that's been around for a long time. The walls are decorated with a graffiti like effect including the bathroom with some interesting pictures like a picture of Elvis and Nixon shaking handsAs far as the food....We were left disappointed when one of our appetizers came to the table Stone Cold. The waiter was excellent though and apologized for it coming out that way and promptly said he was going to take it off our bill and asked us if we would like another appetizer at no charge. The chef did send back the original appetizer pernour waiter, so we cou still enjoy it, which we were told was cooked fresh but even that appetizer was lukewarm to warm.We ordered a margarita pizza to share since I did not want to have any meat.It had a pretty wide puffy outer crust around the edges but I found the margarita slices to be very soppy from the sauce with a thin crust underneath the toppings. It had no integrity to the slice and the cheese fell right off as you tried to pick it up.Overall it was a somewhat disappointing visit for $55 dollars before tip.We are going to try it again sometime because their burgers are supposed to be absolutely amazing!!!
March 20 · James Cawley5 stars across the board. Our waiter was so informative, funny, attentive and available. (Think his name was Geo) The food was amazing. We had the brussel sprouts, which were so interesting but sooo good. The design of the restaurant was cool, and the bathroom was funny (it had writing all over it). Points off for atmosphere because they had no toilet paper in the bathroom.
February 05 · Florence CuomoIf you're looking for an "upper crust" pizza dining experience, then look no further than The Parlor. There are few other options on the menu, other than pizza and salad, but that's okay, as they do both superbly. I started with a side house salad with the optional crispy chicken. The chicken was amazing. It was light, crispy, and mouth watering. I still can't stop talking about its incredible flavor. I then had the pepperoni pizza. Incredibly delicious. Fresh ingredients, doughy, tasty, and filling would be the best way to describe this culinary miracle. It was simply divine. In addition to the food, the service was very friendly and attentive. Reservations highly recommended. If you're a pizza person, then you must stop at The Parlor.
September 23 · Richard FederbuschWe had an excellent time tonight. It took awhile to get our food but overall the experience was great. The food and flavors were outstanding. We had a special Italian combo sandwich as an appetizer and for pizza we had the meatball and the lemonator. The ice cream sandwich for dessert was by far one of the best desserts I’ve had in a long time.
