★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Ate here Jun. 24. I got Earl Grey and Honeycomb in a waffle bowl. As per usual with any Van Leeuwen location I've been to so far: great ice cream, great service, and altho the prices are a little expensive it is worth it. Even got a free topping which was a pleasant surprise!Place was a little crowded but I didn't have to wait long to order. There is seating inside (see photo) but depending how crowded it is they may be occupied
July 05 · Rose Van TineI really don’t understand the hype around this place. I stopped by craving some ice cream and chose it because it was the closest option. Of course, the chocolate fudge was sold out .. and so was the regular chocolate. Off to a great start.I was like whatever and ordered a few other options. But the Sicilian pistachio didn’t even taste like pistachio?? The Marionberry cheesecake was diabetically sweet like I felt my glucose levels spike just after one spoon. And the Bigface coffee affogato, meh. Just average.Overall, not the ice cream adventure I was hoping for. It’s a cute shop though.
July 21 · Suzanne KanjVan Leeuwen’s Upper West Side location is everything you want in a neighborhood ice cream stop: charming, not overly crowded, and surrounded by just enough outdoor seating to make it feel like a proper summer treat. It’s got that modern nostalgia vibe—clean, playful, and just enough pastel to remind you this is a place that takes its scoops seriously.I went for the Peanut Butter Brownie Honeycomb, which, to no one’s surprise, delivered on the decadence front. Van Leeuwen doesn’t do “light.” Their chocolate-based flavors come with weight, richness, and unapologetically dense mix-ins. And they don’t hold back on those—you’ll get actual brownie, actual honeycomb, and possibly a small existential crisis about how full you are after one cone.Speaking of cones, they’re generous. Like, “this could’ve been a lunch” generous. The scoops are stacked with care and ambition, and I respect that deeply. In short: Van Leeuwen is indulgent, dependable, and kind of feels like a reward. The UWS location keeps it calm and cute, which makes it an ideal stop when you want dessert to feel a little more special. Just maybe skip dinner if you’re ordering the chocolate.
July 09 · Katherine NgTried the Pistachio Sundae with 1 scope of Vegan Hazelnut ice-cream. The vegan ice cream was beyond my expectations. Very smooth , light and tasty.
April 05 · Mandakini DStopped in here on our walk back to the apartment. Everything was yellow, giving the building an inviting charm. The staff was very nice. They will give you a sample of any of the flavors you would like. When its time to get your waffle cone, waffle bowl, or bowl they don't skimp on the ice cream. We ordered mint, carrot cake dulce De leche, praline butter cake, and earl gray tea. All of the flavors were delicious, but in all honesty how do you go wrong with ice cream? They even had Vegan options if that is more your jam. If you're in the area I highly recommend stopping here for a nice treat!
