★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Idk what all these other reviews are talking about but this food was hittin😋. Especially the oxtail.. I came from Brooklyn... I googled the closest oxtail spots next to me and this place popped up. I went to it because I saw a picture where they had a whole plate of rice and oxtail and it looks so good and baby when I got my meal they did not disappoint 💯💯 It taste so juicy and tender. The small meals look like large and a large meals look like extra large. Definitely going back 💪🏾🤎😊
June 15 · NeneI was excited to try Violets from Jamaica and ordered through Uber Eats. I chose the oxtail plate, which in the description clearly stated it came with rice and two sides. I picked yams and cabbage, but when my food arrived, it was just oxtails, yams, and cabbage — no rice.I called the restaurant to ask if rice was supposed to be included, and the woman who answered was rude and unhelpful. She insisted I was supposed to add the rice myself, even though I double-checked and the description said it comes with rice. I didn’t appreciate being blamed for something that wasn’t clearly communicated. What’s frustrating is that the food was actually really good — the oxtails were tender and flavorful — but spending $30 for just meat and two sides felt like a rip-off. I would’ve happily gone back to get rice if someone had just been kind and willing to work with me. Unfortunately, poor customer service really ruined the experience.
May 23 · Briana JohnsonI frequent this restaurant regularly and I thoroughly enjoy the food. I am not sure what happened differently today but I found a piece of paper in my bowl of porridge and a hard piece of plastic in my stew chicken meal. It was not saran wrap that would normally cover the food as the employee suggested it might have been when i called. I have nothing but good things to say about this restaurant... I'm just surprised that I found two things like this in 2 separate dishes, in one trip.
July 05 · Amanda LeeI'm looking at photos from the people who gave this restaurant 1 and 2 stars, and I'm thinking they went somewhere other than Violet's From Jamaica with Love. We stopped here after my son performed at NJCU and our small plates were so big, we took half of our meals home for a second meal the next day. The food was plentiful and well-seasoned. We had oxtails, curry goat, and whiting.
February 20 · Trina O'GormanI have support this restaurant from day one, honestly the food is great. I ordered maybe once a week and I normally get the same thing. I get the jerk chicken with oxtail gravy on the rice and everytime the older lady is there, she makes a big deal about the oxtail gravy. She would say we don't have plenty left or there is none, she acts like she is doing you a favor. Its already bad that the service is not there nothing smiles, seems happy and with her silly comments makes it worst. Why bother asking what kind of gravy you want when the only option you have is stew chicken. I am not sure who the owner is but she/he needs to fix the service. The only reason I keep coming back is because the food is good. The Jerkin chicken restaurant food is good too, I may take my business there if service doesn't improve. That mean lady should be in the kitchen, not customer facing.
