July 19 · Dave ZAn amazing bar with excellent customer service and a family feel to it. One of the barman was originally from the UK which made us feel right at home. Reminiscent of an English pub. Excellent prices at only $8 for house whiskey with mixer.
November 07 · Vin ChenzoTLDR: Racist and rudeI rarely feel compelled to leave a review somewhere, however my experience at Walter's was pretty horrifying.Around 2:30AM I walk into the bar with my friend. We approach the bar to order a drink and notice the bartender is wearing a concert t-shirt from the show we had both just attended at MSG (my friend actually playing in the band). In an attempt to be nice we ask if he was also at the show and were met with a dismissive and uninterested grunt...After ordering our drinks he asks to see our IDs. I present my NY ID, my partner shows his TN ID. After looking at it and bending it for a few moments, he says he cannot accept his ID and needs to see another form of validation since he "doesn't look like his photo." We try to laugh it off as my friend is over 30 and VERY clearly the person in the ID photo. I ask if they have a scanner to scan the ID and am told that wouldn't matter. His behavior is generally weird, not making eye contact or using complete sentences? We are confused, seeing as we enjoyed a night at this bar 2 days prior and the vibes were totally fine. He adamantly asks him to show another type of identification with his name on it. We decide to stop wasting our time with this racist man who very clearly has targeted my partner because he is Black. After reading other reviews about Walter's Bar, this unfortunately does not seem to be an isolated experience with this particular white, male, heavy set bartender, as there are multiple accounts of people being denied entry based on skin color left in the reviews. It's pathetic, vile, and racist. The continued employment of this individual is absolutely disgusting. Walter's Bar is racist trash. Don't waste your time here.
April 18 · Olivia KleinAndrew & Nicki best bartenders ever, great beer selection. Lovely atmosphere
February 11 · Leonardo CarvajalI’m extremely disappointed and honestly shocked by how I was treated by bartender Andrew, a heavyset white man at this bar. He outright refused to accept my UK Biometric Residence Permit (BRP) as valid ID and insisted that only a U.S. document was acceptable. We tried to explain to him multiple times patiently that the BRP is an official government-issued ID in the UK, widely recognized and used internationally. It even shares the same format codes and security features as many national passports. But he wouldn’t listen. He waved it off rudely and kept repeating “It has to be a U.S. document,” with a dismissive tone, like anything non-American wasn’t good enough. It felt humiliating and clearly discriminatory. Foreign passports aren’t U.S. documents either, but they can be accepted, so what kind of logic is that? The whole experience felt lazy, rude, and frankly, racist. He didn’t want to engage, didn’t want to help, and just wanted to push us out. It’s 2025, how is this kind of behavior still happening? This needs to be addressed seriously.
