This was not the best. My curiosity was piqued yesterday morning when I went on Seamless to find a panini...and three different businesses came up for this address. (Incidentally, two out of the three were for panini places.) I was getting some very shady ghost kitchen vibes but also figured it was worth a trip to investigate and do some recon. Also, I'd very specifically been craving a panini, ideally with fresh mozzy. At least I sort of got a panini out of this.I can't speak to the ethics of ghost kitchens (it doesn't feel copacetic to me, but I also don't think they're illegal) but I can at least tell you the bougie panini vibes courtesy of Seamless were nowhere to be found here. I walked over from Penn 1, and it is quite literally one of the most unpleasant stretches in the city - it is wall-to-wall homeless/strung out drug users and frightened tourists. People make the trek through here all day long unscathed, but already you have a huge disincentive to never make this part of your regular lunch plans.Farmers is pretty spacious; I came right after 1pm, so probably the height of the lunch hour. It's the demo you'd think - a lot of construction/blue collar workers looking for a cheap, filling meal. There was a smattering of other customers but I was able to order within literal seconds of perusing the menu above the deli section (hilariously, does not reference paninis though the paper menu by the counter does).I went with a chicken parm panini. Seemed like a straightforward option and relatively safe. The one aspect I did like was that they used shredded chicken instead of a filet, which I found easier to eat on the whole. But everything else was subpar. The cheese they used (which you can probably see in the accompanying pic) was a congealed, rubbery mess, and they mystifyingly double down on it - there's a melted slice on the top and bottom of the panini. This honestly would have been markedly better with just one, limiting the damage. Wasn't a big fan of the sauce either, but at least it was sort of mixed into the shredded chicken. It tasted like Ragu, which is my least favorite tomato sauce (opinions I'm sure vary). The panini itself was way too chewy - it looked to be thicker bread than a typical panini, though I can't definitively confirm that - and in a weird texture theme, the accompanying potato chips were soggy/stale, so literally nothing in the container had a crisp to it. Very strange. When I came back upstairs I chugged two protein bars to cleanse the palate and get more carbs in - just a big miss from my perspective.Everyone I interacted with was cordial and professional, and it didn't take long to get the made-to-order panini. Ghost kitchen or not, this was my first and only time. My panini craving will just have to be fulfilled next week.

This is an excellent deli with all of your favorite sandwiches, treats and snacks, meals are always delicious, coffee is always fresh, seating is there but due to this location's popularity, seating may be hit and miss. And let's not forget about the music on their playlist, rocking 70s and 80s hits adds to the unique atmosphere. Definitely worth your visit.
