September 11 · Shajeez ManiCame in last night for my birthday. Husband had a Groupon and decided to surprise me.The place is nice and the view is fantasic. The service was excellent and the staff is friendly. My husband's picky and thinks the place has bad decor and needs to be remodeled. I agree to an extent plus the menu prices are a bit high.I had the shrimp with lobster and my husband had the surf and turf. The food was great except for my shrimp which had no taste.Overall, the experience was good. Would I come again? Probably not.
February 01 · Chris LeeFirst off, yes the restaurant has an absolutely amazing view. That said, the restaurant relies on the view in its entirety and is completely lacking in providing a good service. I understand that people come there for the view, but when the restaurant is pricey as this one is, the service should be much better. After paying over $350 for dinner for four, we were left with a rude and unprofessional waiter and mediocre food. When I asked the waiter about a couple of dishes he did not give much information about them, then I asked him to recommend one more appetizer in addition to the 2 that we have already ordered and he rudely pointed to one of them. In general he completely mislead and mis-provided information about most of the food, lied about wine, the service was extremely slow and the food did not match the prices at all. Two of the side orders came out half cooked, when I told him about his he replied "are you sure?"My family and friends have been there before, and said I should check it out because of the nice view. I decided to have my birthday dinner there with my husband and parents however was unimpressed and even highly annoyed by the service. Will not be going back there. There are other restaurants in Long Island City with an amazing view, that have much better service and lower prices.
September 14 · MarWent there to celebrate a birthday and graduation in mid-May, 2015. The food, service and view was all first class. The view alone is worth taking in. We loved it so much we went back a second time a few days later and it was even better. Two waitresses waited on us. They couldn't have been more accommodating, even taking multiple pictures for us. I highly recommend the lobster cocktail. I had it both times and my companion had the filet mignon both times. It was all cooked to perfection and below Manhattan prices. The price came in at an average of $50-70/person for appetizer, entree, drink and dessert. We went mid afternoon each time, but I can only imagine the scenery at night. Highly recommended!
May 24 · David CheyneOverall we will never go there again. The only thing I like about Water Edge was the view of Manhattan where I live. Some friends come from California and we wanted have dinner outside of Manhattan for a change. I guess the restaurant can seat over 100 people. There was only one waiter serving. We had a very difficult understanding him. It felt as if we were in a New York City taxi. The waiter was very pushy and he took drink order for three of five people at the table. Also, he told us we have to order appetizers and main course at the same time. They served my meal and five minutes apart for the other meals. By the time all meals served my meal was cold. He charged us for things we did order. They could be a little more organized and learn the restaurant business. ( serve all drinks, let people order their appetizer first and take a few minutes to order their main course, add more waiters).
