What is worth choosing?
For a New Yorker looking for exceptional catering or a delicious meal to go, Alex's Luncheonette is a superb choice. What makes this establishment stand out is its ability to deliver authentic, high-quality, and generously portioned Latin American food, whether you're ordering a single meal or a large catering platter. The "Pernil" and "rice with black beans" are frequently praised, proving that even their staple dishes are a cut above the rest. The catering services are particularly worth choosing for their value and convenience, especially the Family Combo, which is an easy solution for feeding a group without compromising on flavor. While a customer review noted a slight saltiness in one dish, the overall consensus is overwhelmingly positive, with the food consistently described as "incredible" and "tasty." The lack of dine-in seating and the potential for a wait are minor considerations for a place that excels in takeout, delivery, and catering. Ultimately, if you are planning an event and want to serve honest, flavorful, and authentic Dominican food, or if you simply need a great meal to take home, Alex's Luncheonette is a reliable and highly-regarded local business that delivers on its promise of deliciousness and great value. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1There no place to sit and eat. It gets bust here. I had the rice with black beans and stew chicken. The rice was slightly salt but still tasty. I also had the shredded cassava with cheese thing-that was truly 10/10
June 14 · ShaniTakeout place. Pernil was incredible. Yellow rice and beans were spot on. Would absolutely go back
September 06 · Steve DavisI'm from Washington Heights, aka Little Dominican Republic, and after moving to Brooklyn 16 years ago, GOOD Dominican food has been hard to come by until...... I found Alex's Luncheonette. I only come here for Dominican food and little frituras like quipe's, pastelitos, arepitas, etc. It's good every single time
February 17 · Irene CPBeen coming here for years I do recommend this place to anyone that wanna have good dominican food, I love the bbq ribs and also the yuca empanadas
April 04 · Rey ReyesThis restaurant places preferences on non-Black people. They allowed hispanics to skip others who do not appear as Latinx.I went today to get food. Their lining system is very unproductive and they do not keep mind of the order. They allowed someone who was Latinx to skip me and when I addressed it to the client, it became an argument, rather than them acknowledging the concern and addressing the issue, they defended the client who skipped me. I speak Spanish, which they ignored of me because I am Black. Even after the argument, we both got our foods and they said in spanish that they were trying to push me out. This place is racist and their food isn’t even that good. I will be working with community members to address the anti-Blackness of this restaurant. Dominicans are racist and it’s sad that a place that has many Black Dominicans, they do not identify as such and treat Black presenting people differently. Please do not go here. They’re racist!
