September 18 · Juan J. MorenoWe recently visited the Atrium Terrace at the 9/11 Memorial, and while we loved the museum itself, our experience at the café was disappointing. After placing our order, the staff asked if we’d like to make a donation. We politely declined, as the cost of the snacks was already quite high. However, when we checked the charge on our phone, we saw that a donation had been added anyway. We brought this to the attention of the manager, Michael, who was very helpful and quickly resolved the issue. Despite this, we learned that the staff is incentivized to secure donations, which raises serious concerns about transparency and ethical practices. While we believe this was an honest mistake, the fact that such incentives exist is troubling, as they can easily lead to unwanted charges.I recommend that visitors carefully review their receipts to avoid any unexpected charges. Additionally, I urge management to reconsider incentivizing staff to push donations, as this could create an environment ripe for dishonest practices.
